I recently had the pleasure of visiting Meraki Cafe, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. As soon as I stepped foot inside, I was immediately captivated by the delightful atmosphere. The cozy yet modern decor created a warm and inviting ambiance that made me feel right at home. I decided to try their renowned caramel macchiato and coffee mocha, and I was not disappointed. The baristas at Meraki Cafe truly know their craft. Each sip of the caramel macchiato was a symphony of flavors, with the perfect balance of smooth espresso, velvety milk, and a rich caramel undertone. It was a true delight for my taste buds. The coffee mocha was equally impressive, with a harmonious blend of robust coffee and decadent chocolate that provided a delightful pick-me-up. What truly stood out, besides the exceptional coffee, was the impeccable service. The staff at Meraki Cafe were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. They took the time to explain the menu options and made thoughtful recommendations based on my preferences. Their genuine passion for coffee and dedication to providing a memorable experience was evident throughout my visit. Overall, Meraki Cafe exceeded my expectations in every way. From the inviting atmosphere to the heavenly coffee flavors and exceptional service, it is undoubtedly a coffee lover's paradise. Whether you're seeking a cozy spot to relax or a place to indulge in exquisite coffee creations, Meraki Cafe comes highly recommended. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu offerings.

Super cute, quaint spot! A friend highly recommended this place to go and do some work while also to enjoy great coffee. It is quiet, clean, and does not seem too hectic or overly crowded as other places. Ordering is easy as well they have to go or to have there. On the side of the register they have a relatively big container with water if you would like and they also have an outdoor patio which is really cool because the place doesn’t look too big at all but it is actually pretty spacious with lots of seating. I mostly encountered women there working on their laptops when I went on a Tuesday afternoon and one guy walked in to order a regular coffee to go and left super quick. There is wifi and it is written on a small sign just near the register as well. They do also sell food, but I have not yet tried it. Will do soon and post the update.

Before i was an employee at this wonderful University Heights cafe, i was a regular getting acai bowls (yes, with gluten free granola)and a coconut milk lavender latte daily! I'm not sure if its the zen atmosphere of the back patio, the customer base , the availability of delicious creative options for all types of eaters and caffeine drinkers- vegan, vegetarian, nut free, gluten free dairy free etc but it seems to me this place nailed all the qualities hard to find if you eat/drink with restrictions; overall I'm just extremely happy this cafe came to such a cute neighborhood that fits right in with the uniqueness and friendliness of San Diego. also highly recommend the homemade Chai with Vanilla Bean syrup or Cardamon (cant go wrong)

The Worst Dining Experience Ever

This was by far the most horrific experience I’ve ever had with any restaurant. I specifically ordered three avocado toasts on sourdough with ONLY avocado and two eggs on each. Instead, I received something completely different: toast covered in cheese, tomatoes, and balsamic — and absolutely no eggs at all.

When I picked up the order, not only was it wrong, but the staff blamed me for their mistake, insisting that I had ordered it that way. I know exactly what I asked for, and I was very clear: avocado, sourdough, and eggs on top. On top of this, my husband’s coffee was missing.

When we asked them to simply substitute the dish for the correct one, they told us we would have to pay again for the new dish instead of fixing their mistake. That is outrageous — no basic accountability, no customer care, just shifting the cost back to us.

To make it even worse, we were charged nearly $200 for this order, and what we got in return was nothing but plain avocado toast without eggs — not even close to what we paid for.

This wasn’t just a small mistake — it was a complete failure in service, accuracy, and accountability. Truly...

I’ve been a loyal customer of Meraki Café for some time and often visited with my task-trained service dog, who helps me manage a disability. My dog is quiet, calm, and fully trained—and we’ve sat inside many times without issue.

On my most recent visit, however, I was told by staff that dogs—including service animals—are only allowed on the outdoor patio. I explained that my dog is a service animal, not a pet, and that we’ve sat inside previously. The staff member called the owner to confirm, and still told me that we were not allowed to sit inside. This is a clear violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which requires that service animals be allowed in any part of the business where customers are normally allowed to go—including indoor seating areas. Offering an outdoor space only is not sufficient or legal.

I later reached out to the owner by email to address the issue privately, but received no reply.

I'm sharing this publicly because accessibility matters—and no one with a disability should be made to feel unwelcome or excluded because they rely on a...
