Mattress Firm Mission Valley — Hotel in San Diego

Probably the first truly pleasant experience at a brick and mortar home furniture store I have ever had. My partner and I walked in after brunch one day to both avoid the rain and do a little physical testing of a mattress we had just started floating the idea around investing in and purchasing online, sometime in the near-ish future. Samantha came up to us and proceeded to provide excellent sales and customer service. I, like many, am a bit turned off by the typical salesperson. Samantha, however, spent ample time entertaining our questions and stories, as wild and prolific as they were. She was cordial and friendly, professional and down to earth. This was beyond appreciated to the both of us, who were novices in the realm of mattress buying, in both knowledge and experience. Though we did not walk out that day with a purchase (I had to run to work because we had been so caught up in the unexpected comfort of looking for answers to questions that popped up as Samantha continued to answer us with patience, kindness, compassion, and honestly…she was quite funny!), we felt armed and exhilarated with the new plethora of knowledge and options dropped on us. To be frank, we were giddy. But in an effort to be responsible adults, we took some time to continue researching and processing this possible investment and how that could fit into our upcoming major expenses and moves. Fast forward a couple weeks, my partner was in the area and dropped in to take another look and further our inquiries. They were met by Melissa, who picked up right where Samantha had started us, answering questions and providing earnest solutions and options. So much so that I received a call from my partner that night, we talked it over, put a deposit hold down so that I could try and make it that night before close after my work was done. Melissa was extremely patient with all of my final concerns and questions, and worked with us to provide a package that was useful to us and our needs, making changes to offers to meet us in the middle. Especially right down to the wire at closing time. She was clear and concise, forward with the information we were looking for, and put our minds at ease so that we could lean into our excitement! We both have bad back issues, and this investment is something that was more of a faraway dream rather than an imminent reality. Within a few of weeks that completely changed and we couldn’t be happier! Thank you so much to both Samantha and Melissa, for taking the utmost care of us through our ignorance and cautious fervor (I’ll take the blame for being the hesitant and cautious one! lol)! Our experience was excellent, and one that we will not forget for the entirety of our lives. For anyone who has reservations about buying a mattress, or even simply broaching the subject in person at a store, I could not recommend this place more. We weren’t aiming to buy on Sunday as a matter of fact we had agreed to NOT buy but just test mattresses and shop around. We started at the Friars location where Will helped us. Will was kind, knowledgeable, and so patient with our millions of questions. Based off of our likes and dislikes he made a recommendation for us to head to the flagship store to test out a mattress he didn’t have in his inventory. He said they would take great care of us and sent us on our way. Right as we walked into the 2nd store we were cheerfully greeted by Ivan. We shared with Ivan that we had come from being with Will and that we were specifically looking for the model that wasn’t available at the other location. Ivan wasted no time and took us straight over to test the recommended model. Our turning moment came when we mentioned to Ivan that we had set a budget under 1k but the mattress we had our eyes on was way way more than that. Instead of pushing the higher sale immediately he took us to something that was highly rated and within our budget. He also fitted us individually for pillows to suit our needs. That show of respect made us want to buy that same day and from Ivan. We ended up buying with the higher end mattress after a long uninterrupted (no pressure) conversation to discuss our budget. Initial visit = Alberto helped me out was great! I tried out a lot of different options and landed on my dream mattress a very expensive beauty rest black series 3... its tall! Long short there was a challenge with height especially when including the adjustable base. This became comical and resulted in needing to return the adjustable base sadly.

Delivery 1 = Ripped the bottom of the mattress on my entrance way doorknob and broke the doorknob.

Delivery 2 = Came to pick up the adjustable base and caused damage to my flooring and wall. Also brought the wrong replacement mattress

Delivery 3 = The (3rd) replwcemrnt mattress was an outlet order and for a reason, the coil springs had a huge mound in the middle and was drooped down by the top 3rd, irregular for sure.

Management = Handled things professionally. Initially there was a charge fir the pick up of thr adjustable base, which didnt seem right, thankfully Adam was able to fix and credit it back for me. Tommy helped have their warehouse schedule repairing the floors and walls. The guy they sent Carlos was really nice and helpful, he did an "ok" job as its clearly obvious still where the damage occurred if you look, but acceptable solution.
