Walking up to the place I could already tell it was going to be a pretty long wait from the amount of people standing in front of the restaurant waiting for their seat.
There is inside seating and outside seating available, with outside there were about a dozen umbrellas around various tables to keep out rain, and 2 standing heaters to heat about 10-15 tables in the whole area. The wait for either inside or outside was about 35-40 if you had an average party size. If you had a party larger than 4-5, good luck the wait could be up to 1 hour to almost 2. Bussers and servers alike were quick to come to a customers aid if they needed something, and at least for water refills, mine was never empty.
Inside the Parkhouse Eatery it is an old house that has tables put in every space available while ensuring there is some space between guests. An old style house with none of that Open Space concept we all love so much in the current trend of stylish homes. But there is also a bar deep inside the restaurant which services a variety of morning/brunch appropriate drinks. From your basic Orange juice to the more exciting mimosas or the flight of mimosas if you want to relax your day away (also very exciting to take pictures of for social media purposes). They also serve Micheladas (traditional or with a tamarindo candy stick) a spicy bloody Mary type drink served with your beer of choice in a pretty tall glass that you can refill a good few times before you run out of the beer.
After waiting about 35-40 mins, as the hostess had stated, my party of 2 was finally seated. Luckily we had taken a look at the menu while waiting so we pretty much knew what we wanted and we wanted to place our order as fast as possible as hunger was taking over us. The server came pretty quickly once we were seated and greeted us and asked for our drinks. We ordered water, and my boyfriend ordered the Texas French Toast combo with scrambled eggs. I ordered strawberry pancakes, and he also asked if I wanted bacon with my order, which I promptly said yes to. I also asked if they had hash browns, which unfortunately they did not have. But they did have roasted potatoes, which I also promptly added to my order.
It took awhile for the food to come almost 15- 20 mins, but that is understandable considering the amount of people who were in the restaurant this morning. Also the dishes were all helpfully portioned, my pancakes were huge! Two pieces, twice as big as my face! My boyfriends meal also was huge, appropriate to the Texas name it claims. Other dishes that we saw were also huge and all looked delicious, especially the Chileaquiles (Green version). If I had ordered something else it would be this amazing Mexican dream on a plate, it looked absolutely beautiful and would likely feed me for two+ meals.
The pancakes were very yummy and fluffy, not supremely sweet, but with the maple syrup on the side it made it sweet enough for me. The strawberries added too much of a tartness to the pancakes, which I did not really like. The strawberries unfortunately took away from the sweet breadiness of the pancake. Luckily there weren't a huge amount of strawberries, just a few sprinkled around, so I could definitely eat around them. The potatoes did not come with any extra seasonings or flavor, but adding pepper on them and ketchup on the side made up for it. The best thing about the potatoes were the crunchiness of them. Good and crisp on the outside, nice and warm and fluffy when you take a bite. Bacon was also nice, but felt like a lot when combined with my pancakes.
Overall, I enjoyed my meal and experience at Parkhouse Eatery. The wait for the table is expected because this place is so popular and good and since it was a Sunday during Brunch time. Although the food was good, I feel some of the things we ordered were a little overpriced, but considering the portion size or our actual meals and quality it made up for the price of $33 for 2 people. Tip not included in the price of the food. We did leave a tip though, so don't...
Read moreI finally got to go here for Sunday brunch, and it didn't disappoint especially since my girlfriend had me excited about the potatoes sold there. As said before, this place did live up to the hype, and I will be going back there for dinner, lunch, or another brunch.
A piece of advice when planning on going to this place is to get there early. If you don't, you could be waiting up to a half-hour or longer. We got there about a half-hour after it had opened at 8 am, and the outside was packed. Luckily, seating on the inside of the Parkhouse was immediate, so we sat inside. The decor of Parkhouse resembles a house that was transformed into a restaurant, and it is suiting and welcoming.
The menu here offers an excellent selection for brunch as well as a unique drink menu. The drink menu covers coffee drinks, mimosas, bloody marys, and even provides mimosa flights. The mimosa flight is a choice of up to four different kinds of mimosas. Brunch here is popular as their menu offers an excellent variety of items for the occasion. They had some daily specials today, and one of them was pumpkin pancakes with oreo crumbles and, according to the menu, they have a regular house-made muffin. Parkhouse Eatery makes a lot of their condiments like the ketchup and jam. The jam is delicious on top of their bread, and it seems to be a raspberry or blackberry jam. It was a sweet and tart jam, but delicious regardless.
We ordered two tres egg scrambles for our brunch. My girlfriend got the spinach and artichoke heart egg scramble while I got the Portuguese sausage and bacon scramble that also included pepperoncinis, onions, and other vegetables. Both were delicious, and the potatoes were excellent.
We both left this place satisfied and with boxes in hand because the helpings were too large for us to finish. I recommend this place looking for a great brunch food with a...
Read moreHad to wait about 20 minutes around 11:45 on a Sunday (they quoted 45 mins, but got a table sooner) morning, so not bad at all.
The server was a real gem. Fun to talk to and gave some good recommendations too.
Lemon Ricotta Pancakes (topped with house-made blueberry sauce and whipped butter) were ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! So large and so fluffy and just so so good! The whipped butter on top went really well as well. 10/10 recommend this!
PH Salad with Grilled Chicken - Absolutely loved the raspberry vinaigrette on this. It was so fresh and refreshing and actually quite thick like a between a jam and a vinaigrette. Not like those classic runny vinaigrettes which we actually appreciate.
Pork Belly Benedict - Friend got this one. Very very large portion on this, and it looked really appetizing as well! He said it was nice, and very filling too, haha.
Spicy Pork Chorizo Scramble (with red onion, tomato, Serrano peppers topped with Cotija cheese), with the roasted potatoes and toast. House mate got this and finished all the potatoes and toast, but not all of the scramble. She did say it was nice though.
Also got the mimosa flight for the table and we were actually surprised by this one. Pink Goddess (guava juice, strawberry & champagne) Was what we actually wanted to begin with but it turned out the other flavors were much better. The guava didn't come through so much in here and it was quite heavy on the alcohol. Blueberry Stand (house made lemonade, blueberry puree & champagne) Very pretty and very delicious! It was like the perfect one for summer. Applelicious (unfiltered apple juice, champagne, cinnamon-sugar rim) Was the best one of the lot! The server actually recommended this one to us and we were genuinely surprised. The cinnamon sugar ring added the...
