I'm a huge fan of Mexican food, especially the local taco shop scene. Our local 'bertos is good enough for a 2:30 AM burrito. Well, really at that time it's the most amazing food on the planet. Otherwise this is a great place for a quick stop. Really think they're long overdue for a remodel and a hard look at the menu would do them some real good. Parking is really difficult. There's 2 spots and street parking is tough to find. I think people would walk a mile to get here if they were more like Colimas in North Park.
The staff has been really awesome as of late and always seems to be smiling and joking around. Service is fast and portions are decent. Hot sauce, the hallmark of a good taco shop, is okay. There's a red and a green and both are a bit watered down I've found. Same goes for the refried beans which could use some love. The outside eating area is often dirty and the overall atmosphere looks a bit run down. The latter would be awesome if the food was la bomba.
Still, I love my local taco shop and eat here often.

Read moreThe more I've visted the longer the wait time. At one point in time a male cooked the food which had tons of seasoning and flavor. A month ago I would've rated that place the best in San Diego for making a simple bean and cheese burrito have flavor. The bean to cheese ratio was perfect. Today I get a flimsy flour tortilla with one end of the burrito filled with cheese and the other end filled with beans. This is the second weekend in a row they messed up my order. Last week I wanted a shrimp burrito they gave me everything but the shrimp. Today I asked for chicken tacos and I get rolled tacos. I won't be giving them anymore of my money. I don't even want to give this...

My only gripe with the establishment is the need to add things to a California burrito to ensure its correct (sour cream, guacamole, and french fries). It comes with either sour cream or guacamole (I can't remember, and I don't feel like asking), so one must pay an additional charge to get the full experience.
Though, at this point, I'd pay that price if it meant the replacement with carnitas.
Overall I am very happy with this establishment, it hasn't led me astray in 2+ years of being a local.
For real tho, get...
