Short version: I was roofied at BLAH and the owners didn't make any effort to reach out to me or learn what happened.
I really want to update this review to be 5 stars because I have loved coming to BLAH since moving to San Diego, especially for their jazz nights. However, on June 15th during jazz night, another patron slipped drugs into my drink (roofied). I don't 100% know who did it, but it was a terrifying experience to not be able to remember anything after only 2 ciders. My partner was with me thankfully and was able to get me home safely. It took a lot of courage to come back and tell the manager what happened. He took down my info and told me that the owners would get in touch with me about it. It's been almost 4 months to the day and nobody has reached out to me. This is a very serious thing that happened and I am posting this review so that more people, especially women, can be aware that this sort of thing is happening and has happened at a local favorite. I haven't been back since, which is a huge bummer since BLAH was one of my favorite places to go. I hope that by posting this review, people will be encouraged to be cautious, always keep an eye on their drinks, and look out for one another. If someone is acting unhinged drunk after having not much to drink, tell someone and look after that person. If the owners won't take it seriously, at least the community can look out for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's not just a brew pub... "BLAH" is also the store front for Automatic Brewing Company.
Blind Lady Ale House, AKA "BLAH" is an awesome location for trying new and different beer. Their tap list is constantly rotating. Since people will ask: They have wine here. They don't do mixed drinks.
Build out is like a community area. Many of the tables are long, and groups of people will mix and blend here, as they pick up a pint of whatever is new or unique. The first items from their tap list are things brewed right out back at the Automatic Brewing Company. These are noted on the menu with their logo; the letter A inside of a cog. Spoiler Warning: One of the Automatic brewing tanks can be seen from the window in the men's restroom.
BLAH is part of community events, such as the monthly San Diego Drink About. They also work to raise funding for community efforts through programs like "Agents of Change."
The group that owns Blind Lady also owns Panama 66 that opened recently in Balboa Park, and Tiger!Tiger!
PROPS: Excellent spot for craft beer. BLAH is active in the local community. SLOPS: When it gets crowded, you can feel like you're right on top of other...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame to blindly the ale house, on Sunday evening, for their weekly stand-up comedy show. Was graciously greeted by their front of house staff, including Peter at the bar. He served me a fantastic collaboration that blind lady ale house brewing and fall brewing had collaborated on this year. Aside from that, I enjoyed the I believe it was Bianca Del pro prosciutto pizza. I could probably have gotten that name wrong. That said, the cheese prosciutto and dough were fantastic, not that I had ANY complaints about the rest of the meal One thing, that I particularly enjoyed was the pizza dough. It was light crispy with a little bit of a soft crunch to it, without being too oily or absorbing too much of the sauce and toppings and make it floppy
The stand-up comedy was pretty funny, I arrived late, so I missed a good portion of it though do plan to come on back a little bit earlier hopefully with some friends to see more of the comedians that they have curated for their show.
We'll definitely be back, hopefully for more comedy, more fantastic pizza comedy and more excellent customer service from Peter...
