I ordered the pint of the chocolate chip cookie dough. The dough is claimed to be “salty” online. Not an ounce of salt or salty flavor. It tasted horrible couldn’t finish it, the cookie dough doesn’t taste like cookie dough but chunks of brownie and it has an odd but not pleasant taste like they used some cheap dough from a packaged brownie in a plastic container. Idk. Just didn’t taste like cookie dough at all. I found the ice cream texture and flavor to be really ehhh and boring. It was overpriced and just didn’t have that good quality. I’ve had better ice cream at the grocery store like McConnels fine ice cream that’s $7.99 at Ralph’s, Whole Foods etc. taste from that is way better. Like you call yourselves “salt and straw” but can’t even make a salty cookie dough??? The ice cream wasn’t even creamy…:/ I ended up throwing it out as it started leaking out of the pint container even though I closed the lid all the way. Only reason for 2 star is the cashier was nice. ALSO I signed up for email with a special code for checkout. NOWHERE on their website when checking out to put the code!!!! That really bothered me and is probably why I’m annoyed that they try to get you to sign up with nowhere to put a promo code. And I checked their website, every website you can order from. DO BETTER and make better cookie dough it’s not that hard I love cookie dough. But...
Read moreI love ice cream. I’ve tried all of the gelato and ice cream spots in San Diego. One of the main reasons I moved to University Heights was to be walking distance to Stella Jean for their seasonal ice cream flavors which are divine.
But today, today I tried my favorite ice cream and it was pure bliss.
Peanut Butter Brittle Caramel Fudge. That’s correct. Peanut butter brittle. And caramel FUDGE. And, VEGAN. The salty, sweet, thick and rich caramel hit my tongue and I truly have never enjoyed an ice cream more.
I got Salt & Straw for the first time today, for a birthday treat since I’ve never been. But I’m having a fibromyalgia flare up so I can’t wait in line. They offer online ordering which was seamless and perfect. I selected the pint and a pickup time, I walked in and verified with the staff at the front of a looooong line if I had to wait in the line if I already ordered online and he kindly pointed me to a little to go fridge right by the front entrance. They were neatly in a bag and ready to take. Genius! Easy! So convenient!!! People at the very end of the line even said, “that’s the way to do it,” and I agreed! It means a lot to have options for people and not only that, this flavor is seriously the best in the world.
Peanut Butter Brittle Caramel Fudge. Vegan. What dreams...
Read moreTrust me, this place is going to be a great hit. I was here for the Soft opening of Salt & Straw. Thank you, Salt & Straw, for the invite, being an Elite does bring fun. I was very impressed right from the entrance, warmly greeted by the great staff. And also I was prvilaged to see the Co-Founder Tyler, he is gem of a person. So warm to talk to him and he gave lot history of Salt & Straw and their future. I am very excited. We were allowed to try their menu and I choose James Coffee & Bourbon & Cloudforest Chocolate Hazelnut Cookies & Cream. The combination was heavenly. I am glad Salt & Straw having partnership with James coffee, two legends We were also offered a pint to take home and I choose Honey Lavender based on my friends recommendations. Official opening day is today 3/23/2019 11am. I also like their hours, so easy to remember. 11am to 11pm all days, cant get simpler. Next time I go there, I am planning to order the flight of ice-cream, which comes with 4 flavors of your choice. Also from their menu I need to try Sundaes, Ice cream floats and Milk Shakes. But the best part was their freshly made waffle cone, do not miss it. This place best Flavor vaults, best staff and best taste. Go for it. Special mention to the Mural painting of their logo behind the store, go...
