One of my favorite things about traveling is finding local coffee shops with good vibes and great coffee. What are the odds that we'd pick an AirBnB within 3 blocks of (drumroll pleeeeease) THE COFFEE DROP! There was another coffee shop that was closer, but for some reason I was very keen on making the longer walk here. And we were richly rewarded. Vibes, check. The owners running the show- Marissa and Evan- are vibes, period. They both have incredible energy, and you can tell that they love what they do. The space inside is small without feeling claustrophobic, and is bright and welcoming. There is a small patio connected with outdoor seating. So what brought me back 3 times during our too-short weeklong stay in San Diego? First off, the coffee. The signature drink- the OBSL (orange brown sugar latte) is incredible. My suggestion is to get it with the almond milk because the layers of flavor were unlike anything I've ever had. Don't ask me what else is on the menu. I had that the first time and never looked back. Second, I mean, come on, obviously Marissa and Evan. By the third time I stopped in, I felt like I was chatting with friends. They also gave us some great ideas for things to do in the immediate area during our visit. I also thought it was really cool that they use- and therefore put us on to- a barista/black/queer owned oat milk- Ghost Town Oats. For my fellow Celiac sufferers, this is a company that uses certified gluten-free oats and is currently (as of 12/5/23) going through the process of getting certified gluten free labeling! Support local coffee shops and please give them a try! I will 100% be coming back when I'm...

Stepping through the doors of this cozy cafe, one is immediately greeted by the energetic and friendly owners, Evan and Marissa, who seem to know everyone by name. The space is bathed in natural light, with welcoming energy and a spacious patio, inviting patrons to sit and savor their drinks.

With a single sip, one is transported to a world of rich, complex flavors, from the velvety smoothness of a perfectly steamed OBSL (Orange Brown Sugar Latte) to the bold intensity of an expertly pulled shot of espresso.
But what truly sets The Coffee Drop apart is the sense of community that permeates every corner of the space. It's not just a coffee shop - it's a gathering place, where neighbors come to catch up, artists come to create, and friends come to connect over a shared love of great coffee.
In a world that can often feel overwhelming and disconnected, The Coffee Drop is a shining example of the power of a simple cup of coffee to bring people together, to create joy and connection in the midst of our busy lives. It's no wonder that this place has become a beloved fixture in the neighborhood, a true gem that shines bright with each...
Read moreLiterally the sweetest couple. We are visiting from Arizona and my husband is really trying to get me out of my comfort zone and open my own business as I have been a barista for six years and I’m a pastry chef. So he asked how they come about their business and they shared their beautiful start up story and how they came into their storefront. They house make their own syrups and use oat and almond milks. Which for us is our milk of choice anyways. For me personally I will drive for a shop that does that over commercial made syrups. If I’m paying money for coffee I want quality and they really pour their love into their business and in each cup. I got the orange brown sugar latte and my husband vanilla latte. Which he chugged before we could even leave it was so good. Thank you both for sharing your story with us. I wish you both nothing...
