I recently had the pleasure of renting a classic VW bus from A Timeless Day in San Diego with Ian, and it was an experience I’ll never forget! From start to finish, everything was seamless, and it made for the perfect way to explore this beautiful city with my family.

We rented the bus to make the most of a day out with family visiting from Northern California. There’s something about cruising in a vintage VW that immediately sets the tone for fun and relaxation. We hit up some of the most iconic spots in San Diego: Pacific Beach, Coronado, and La Jolla, each offering its own unique charm.

The VW bus added a nostalgic touch to the whole trip. We were able to take in the sights, sounds, and breezes of the coast while having the freedom to stop and explore as we pleased. Pacific Beach was a perfect first stop—there’s nothing like parking right by the ocean and taking in the laid-back vibes. Coronado was next, where we strolled around the gorgeous Hotel del Coronado and took in breathtaking views. Finally, we made our way to La Jolla, where we took in the stunning coastline and had some great family time with a picnic by the sea.

What made the day truly unforgettable was sharing the adventure with my family. They absolutely loved the VW bus and the nostalgic road trip vibe it gave us. We laughed, sang along to some classic tunes, and truly made memories that will last a lifetime. You absolutely MUST book a bonfire beach party with Charlie and Austin!! They are the absolute best hosts, so kind and easy going. I had such an incredible time with them on their day trip a couple years ago, that I booked their bonfire for my friends and I. It was the most unique and memorable night of our entire trip. We loved relaxing by the fire and it was the perfect San Diego night. Charlie and Austin took care of everything—they brought us delicious burritos, had a ton of s’mores stuff for us, a Bluetooth speaker for us to play our music, brought blankets for us to cozy up with, and handled all of the set up and clean up. Their attention to detail and quality as hosts really sets them apart. They also gave us space to enjoy the night on our own, which we really loved also. It is amazing how much Charlie and Austin prepare for their guests, there is no way we could’ve done this on our own while on vacation. We recently enjoyed our first trip to San Diego. We decided to book an experience with A Timeless Day, and it ended up being an absolute highlight of our trip! Jack was our host for the day and he showed us many beautiful locations in the area. It was so much fun driving along in the VW bus and chatting with Jack about the neighborhoods, surfing, growing up in California and so much more. Charlie met up with us at several of the stops, so it was great to learn about San Diego from his perspective too. Aside from the scenic locations, Jack and Charlie were experts on some of the best foods in San Diego! They shared amazing sandwiches, tacos and ice cream. In fact, we had to make a stop for more sandwiches before our flight home the next day! Honestly, it was an incredibly relaxing experience to have such fun and kind guides share local spots that we may not have found on our own.
