Came here tonight for the very first time and I have to honestly say I WAS NOT impressed at all. First of alI you go in, the place is a dump. It feels very dirty. No ambiance. They have 2 trash cans completely overflowing with trash and pizza boxes and they don't even empty out the trash cans for their guests. Not acceptable. Now to the food, I ordered their "famous cheeseburger" EXACTLY HOW they "recommend/enforce" you eat it and when I received the burger, it looked liked someone sat on it after being left in their back pants pocket. Didn't have good presentation. So, when I first started to eat it, all I could honestly taste was grease!! It reminded me of eating a Sonic burger. Which I haven't had in over 10 years because I hate Sonic burger. It WAS NOT GOOD at all. Jack in the box is better!! The burger was so greasy I couldn't even taste the meat. I almost threw it away because that is how bad it was. After eating it, I felt like my arteries were instantly clogged!! The buns were also terrible. Very industrial tasting. I feel like they just bought the buns at Vons. There was NOTHING SPECIAL about it. Very plain. Tasted like wonder bread buns. As far as the pizza here, I had a slice of the veggie and it wasn't bad. That is why I am rating them 3 stars. If I was just rating the burger it would ONLY be a 1 star easily. But the pizza was much better. But Luigi's has much better pizza if you are in North Park and the prices for the slices is about the same. If you want a good burger in North Park, I would recommend "Crazee Burger." They are 100 times BETTER than this place. Honestly. I truly thought it would be much better after seeing how highly they were rated on Yelp. But I must say, this place was a HUGE disappointment...

I thought being rude was their "thing" since it's called The Friendly. A friend took me here last year and they were rude for no reason because I asked for ketchup, which they don't have and don't make modifications. I went back about a month ago and I thought maybe since they were rude this time that it's just like their little hipster thing they do. I went back tonight and since it was 9:28p, I called ahead because I didn't want be that guy that shows up before they close. The guy on the phone said 5-10 minutes. I got there in 5 min, paid and waited outside. After 30 min I went to ask if they called my name. The cashier said no. So I calmly let him know, they told me 5-10 over the phone. Instead of replying with anything any service industry employee would respond with, he said "well.. times passing.. your ticket it right here.." So I told him I'm just letting you know what you guys told me over the phone. Mind you, people are getting food that came after me. So he asks if I'm getting an attitude (as if I'm in the wrong) and just escalated the situation for no reason. Not to mention, some girl working there trying to de-escalate but telling me there's no way to prove that I was told 5-10 min. I only told him it was an extra 20 min so they can do better at relaying times to customers. So, I got a refund and left. So, 3 out of 3 times, rude as hell for no reason. It doesn't strike me as a place that would even care about Yelp reviews either. Won't be going back. I can make smash...

I love the food here and frequent often BUT the staff is anything but friendly (ironic). If you place a to go order and are there for pickup make sure you wait in the line or you will get berated by the front desk guy and they will then proceed to berate you again as you are leaving. Usually have a great experience— but went to pickup a $70 to go order and thought you could just go to the counter pay and grab it (first time placing a order over the phone) but instead you are supposed to waste your time and wait in line while looking at your ready to go order “just like everyone else”. They did not say over the phone that you have to wait in line when you get there. Had a VERY negative experience with a guy that’s white, older, tattoos, and gauges in his ear. Needless to say he cost everyone a tip and I will NEVER tip if he is working. Very disappointing as I just didn’t know pickup protocol but instead was treated so rudely and heard him continue to talk about us after we were leaving. Clearly he is working at a pizza place because of his lack of people skills and i hope the friendly will treat customers with more respect in...

For every teenager who ever wondered, "Why can't there be a restaurant where I can order a cheeseburger with a side of pizza?", here's your answer. This place is a dream come true for hormonal people and pot smokers, and I mean that in the best possible way. You don't come here for nutrition; you're here for the pure hedonistic indulgence of oodles of cheese whiz dripping off a greasy burger slathered with mayonnaise. The patties are smashed on the grill and are slightly charred on the edges. Grilled onions add even more savoriness to an already savory sandwich. There are no fries or onion rings. If you want a side, order another burger or a slice of thin, crisp NY style pizza. The pizza is tasty. For me personally, the flavor profile of the burger is a bit one dimensional; it would have been nice to have a bit of acid from a pickle or even ketchup to cut through the fat. That said, if you like this style of burger, you'd be hard pressed to find another place in town that does it better. The venue is small, hot and divey with loud music blasting from a boom box. It all makes for a very fun experience.
