FABULOUS LUNCH ! Hey I have never been inside a Japanese restaurant in my life. On the other hand my wife has traveled to Japan many times for her work and loves Japanese food...her fav is Chicken Yakitori. NOTE ! I saw a video a few days ago of Chicken Katsu Curry posted by my mate Jack...one of my best friends on Yelp. It looked so delicious that I had to have it. TODAY ! My wife and I were down in La Jolla taking care of business. I had previously looked up URBN Sushi and knew they served Chicken Katsu Curry and Chicken Yakitori. After a slow 10 minute drive due to roadworks...we arrived here at around 2pm. A friendly server named Henry greeted us with a big smile when we entered. Glasses of iced water came out quick followed by COMPLIMENTARY bowls of Miso soup and Edamame Beans. My wife ordered a Chicken Yakitori Starter and I had to have the Chicken Katsu Curry of course. A few more customers trickled in while we waited for our lunch order to arrive. WHOO HOO ! My wife's Chicken Yakitori Starter...2 skewers arrived first followed soon after by my beautiful looking Chicken Katsu Curry. TOTALLY DELICIOUS ! There is a first time for everything and now I know I love this dish. MORE ! My wife loved her Chicken Yakitori skewers but needed more food so a Vegetable Tempura Starter came out within a few minutes. And I pinched a few pieces...so delicious. THE MENU IS HUGE ! We were more than happy with our first lunch visit but there is so much more to try on the menu. TOP SERVICE ! Our server Henry was great the whole time answering all my questions about items on the menu....

I was really in a mood for some sushi, but my wife and I wanted to try a place that we had never been to. We came here for dinner, and arrived shortly before 5pm on a Saturday.

When we arrived we were greeted by the hostess and told to sit anywhere we liked. We took our time looking over the menu as it was vast and very detailed. I wish they had pictures to accompany the menu though. They brought us edamame, which was tasty. My wife ordered the Mango Wango roll and I got the Rainbow Spider roll. The mango roll was okay, but I don't like sweet dishes, but she loved it. I really liked the Rainbow roll. It was a soft shelled crab topped with 5 kinds of fish, shrimp and avocado. Very good.

The restaurant was clean and decorative, albeit a bit small. We're lucky we got there when we did as it was empty except for one other couple. As we were finishing, the dinner rush hit and the place filled up.

Overall a good experience and I would go back if I am in the area. Standard sushi place, but nothing that makes me say "I want to go to URBN Sushi."

Adding in the truffle yellowtail sashimi. This was FANTASTIC...

This is a relatively new sushi restaurant. I must say that the food is phenomenal and one of the best I have tasted as far as sushi and lunch bowls go. However, I lowered the rank because I had such a terrible service experience. There were three groups of people that came in after me that ended up ordering and receiving their meals before I could even order. I had to call for my server to get their attention and ask for water, and when I finally ordered, I didn't receive my full meal. I had to get their attention again to get my full meal. It turned out they never made part of my meal. I did watch how they went around to the other tables to check on how they were doing and refilling their water cups, etc., but they never once checked on me. The restaurant was not busy at that time either (they looked to be less than half capacity with patrons, maybe 5-6 tables including mine being served) and they had two servers. The establishment is not big. Most of the customers that arrived after me ended up leaving before I finished my meal. If it were not for the horrible service, I would have rated this...

I was craving sushi after church this past Sunday and looked up places close to where I live and URBN sushi stood out because of the good reviews. And it did not disappoint! I ordered the spicy shrimp roll & the bulgogi roll (pictured), and both were absolutely delicious and fresh, and a generous portion size. I have never tried beef with sushi, but it’s a yummy combo and I’m a fan. The complimentary edamame was a nice treat! And I ordered one of the cherry flavored house sodas and it was refreshing. The server was so kind & attentive— excellent customer service, and this restaurant is incredibly clean. This is definitely going to be my go to sushi spot in SD!

Nice Japanese restaurant in the area. I liked that beside sushi you can also get a variety of combination options (teriyaki, tempura, etc) and noodle dishes. There were also many interesting rolls to try. We each opted for a dinner combination with teriyaki and a specialty sushi roll. Sushi was fresh and portions in the combination were large. We had leftovers fo another meal. Waiters were friendly and checked on us. Would come back again to try some of the sushi specials.
