Came here desperately trying to find an Italian Beef sandwich! Made the 40 minute drive and oh my gosh right when you walk it IT SMELLS JUST LIKE A CHICAGO HOTDOG AND ITALIAN BEEF STAND! Ugh I was immediately excited! I came from Chicago and have been trying to cure my craving for Italian Beef! We ordered the American Breakfast Burger even though it was in the afternoon because I wanted the fried egg on it. And we also ordered “Da Beef” or their Italian beef and they were out of the Gonnella Rolls (the bread they make it with) so she said they didn’t have it and I said “No way! We came all this way just to try it” and she said “oh really.. I can give it to you on a brioche bun” and we said absolutely! We came all this way so let’s at least try what we can. The order came out about ten minutes after ordering and the burger was so good! Now.. the last three burgers I’ve had have been disappointing.. but this place.. oh my gosh they came through! It was so well seasoned the egg was cooked perfectly and the fries… UGH they were so fresh and could curb any fry craving you could have! Such a side dish that hold a lot of weight and it did not fail us! They gave it to me with a side of their aioli and it was perfect! Now the Italian beef with Brioche bun was amazing! It was perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked and so juicy! Dipped it in the side of broth and the Brioche soaked it up so fast and really held the juice in their that made the bite just that much more of an experience.. This place is so good and is approved by this Chicago Native! 12 out of 10! Everything was beyond perfect!

05/30/2022 This place was open per their FB page for Memorial Day. Yesterday, I had seen the sandwich boards advertising a burger, fries and a craft beef for $10. The Google maps reviews of locals were complimentary of the food and of the on site owner. I ordered "The Big Shoulder", a half pound cheeseburger for $8 and added a can of Pepsi for $2. The owner was personable and served me himself. He also brought out an ice cold bottle of water on the house. The burger was hand formed, cooked to my request of medium rare and the fries hand cut and fresh made. When ordering at counter ask if you want some mayo or another condiment added to your burger. There is indoors seating with tables and chairs, plus outdoors seating with community picnic tables and umbrellas. I will be back if I'm still in the area to try the Chicago dog. Thanks! *If the parking lot is full, there is street parking. #cheapeats #nomadlife #stealthcamping

This place was great. We started off with the hummus and tzakiki plate ($5). Both are house made. Plenty of pita, hummus, and tzakiki to share. I ordered the greek town (a lamb burger with blue cheese) and my wife ordered the big shoulders (a giant cheese burger), both came with fries. The burger and fries are $8 - $9 and for $2 more you can add a local beer. My burger was perfect. My wife, however, ordered her's well done and it came out cooked the same as mine. We let them know and they apologized, gladly took it back and remade it. The 2nd time was a charm. It's a small place with a casual atmosphere and friendly staff. The food is fantastic when done right. The lamb was the star of the show for me, while my wife thought the house made tzakiki stole the spotlight. We'd both gladly go again.

A hidden gem in La Jolla! The first time I came here I was in the area and saw their $10 burger, fries and beer deal. I decided to try this place out cuz I had heard great things and hey, who doesn't like a good deal? I'm so glad I did!

The second I entered, I was greeted so nicely by the owner and his niece! He helped me choose exactly what to order and, while the food was getting cooked, he kept me entertained with amazing stories! I'm pretty introverted, but he made me feel so at ease and comfortable that I ended up eating my to-go order in the restaurant. And I'm so glad I did!

The greektown burger and salad that I ordered were so fresh and amazing! He told me it's his special innovation and explained to me how he always orders the freshest meat and ingredients and how he has a special recipe for every meal. He's really passionate about cooking and it's really evident! Try the greektown burger with hot peppers ... it's amazing!

Since then, I come here very regularly (I can afford to haha!). I brought my family here for lunch and the owner treated my parents like we were long-lost friends! He treated us to this amazing appetizer, on the house! It was so big, we couldn't even finish the food we ordered! My parents have high standards but even they were blown away by how amazing the food was.

He's recently introduced lamb chops to the menu as well. My sister and I came by for dinner and he gave us a box full ... on the house! When I tell you they're the best lamb chops I've ever had ... I'm not kidding! It took 3 people to finish the meal and we all 3 agree that we have a new favourite dish!

In summary, you have to try this place out! You'll become a frequent visitor. Not only is the food and atmosphere amazing ... it feels great to frequent a small, family-owned business in La Jolla. I'm so glad I found...

I’ve been a few times. This unassuming Chicago-style restaurant is a find, but even that’s an understatement..

FYI - the owner and I are not related nor friends.

One bite of a burger and you can tell there’s no skimping on meat quality here. The chef (I think also owner) found the perfect spice combo for so far everything I’ve tried.

BURGERS I’ve had the Big Shoulder Burger. and Half Pound Cheeseburger with all the Fixings and the other day, I devoured the Greek Burger which is a Lamburger stuffed with feta cheese and has Tzatziki on top! Sometimes I daydream about one of them. . .

All burgers are everything you want from a great juicy burger. No matter which I order, when I’m eating, nothing else matters. Truth is, I’d pay $23 for any of his burgers (especially anywhere in LA); It’s that good. But here, I give the cashier a $10 bill and get more than a dollar back in change. That price can’t last forever, but for now I’m not complaining.

The fries are perfectly crisp on the outside and just the right amount of mushy lnside.

SOUP I wasn’t that hungry yesterday for a burger so tried a bowl of the meatballs rice lime soup (yes I know sounds like a bizarre combo to me too.). There’s no cream in it! It’s actually healthy!! HANDS DOWN, THE BEST SOUP I’VE EVER HAD, and I admit it.I licked the bowl (yes, I ate it at home).

I think it was the owner who came to our table once and introduced himself, a guy from Chicago (who happens to have an extraordinary talent for cooking). What struck me was he looked all of us in the eye. It’s rare and so refreshing. I got the feeling he actually cares. More than the money he seems to care about the people...
