I hate to leave a mediocre review off of one item that I took to go, but it bugged me enough I had to do it. :/ I had actually ordered food from the nearby Japanese restaurant and was walking to pick it up when I saw this place. Their menu looked tasty so I decided to order something simple since I had food coming from somewhere else. I ordered the Thai Salad ("spring salad greens, boiled egg and crispy tofu, served with peanut dressing") and was told it should take 10 min, so I went around the corner to pick up my other food and come back. I paid as soon as I got back and then waited to the side of the register until it was ready. It did take quite a bit longer than 10 min from when I ordered, plus when the food was actually done, it sat by the register for a bit before the gentleman I paid realized it was mine. :/ The super disappointing part was when I got back to Thorn tap room to eat it, the peanut sauce was warm, but the fried tofu wasn't?? It was 4 thin sad cold (just taken from the refrigerator cold, not cooled down from it taking so long cold) incredibly chewy/rubbery tofu, one egg, 5 cut cherry tomatoes, and salad mix. None of that should have taken the amt of time I waited to put together, especially cuz my "crispy" tofu wasn't. lol I paid $9 plus tip for this. :( Also, this part might just be me being picky...I love peanut sauce usually! This one was a bit too spicy for me, but I am a giant baby when it comes to spice haha I couldn't enjoy it. Even tried to refrigerate it and give it another shot the next day, still too...
Read moreThe Name was a deterrent these past two years, even though I do like Thai food and “healthy eating” is fine, you know? It is just too quirky of a name, sigh. Last minute dinner plans with a friend landed us here since we wanted to get a walk in, as well…We had the red curry chicken dish, the cauliflower cashew chicken dish, the shrimp fresh rolls, the veggie egg rolls (which are super tiny and look more like spring rolls), with white rice. The food was fairly tasty, although underwhelming in seasonings, ~on the other hand, it did taste super “clean”, which is why I do love Thai food. Don’t bother with the shrimp fresh rolls, they were tasteless and skimpy on the shrimp. The Thai iced tea was delicious…The service was finicky and rushed even though the restaurant was half empty at 7:45 on a Friday night! We asked for whatever dessert was available, but never received it, and were presented with the check instead. Low energy, rushed waitstaff usually ruins the meal for me. It did. At least I did fully enjoy my Perrier! I simply cannot recommend this place for an enjoyable meal, although the...
Read moreTried this restaurants based off the reviews and it was a disappointment. Great atmosphere inside, decorated nice. The waitress didn’t have a personality but the service was quick from all the ancillary help. The food was such a let down.
Ordered: shrimp dumplings which were ok but the shrimp tasted fishy to me
crispy rolls with chicken which were tiny and mushy on the inside, the sauce was the best part
Tom Ka Soup was the worst… it was watery with no flavor, usually I rate a Thai place off this alone… was horrible I wanted to send it back but my husband said no
green curry was ok but again was watery and came out spicy and we were not asked what spice level we wanted
Drunken noodles with beef had little flavor as well, tasted like it was all soy sauce. Beef tasted boiled.
Also, we ordered two beers and the beer pour was 3 inches below the rim on both.
I have a bad after taste from the food.
I won’t be coming back here. There are many choices...
