A decent diner in the far North of the valley. I am giving it three stars because the food quality and taste is nowhere near as good of some local competition Like Hill Street, Bob’s, Paty’s, or Red Maple. Our server was extremely polite and we were able to be seated right when we arrived and the food items came out very quickly so that part of our meal was great. They have a small free parking lot attached but it is quite cramped and there was only one space available when we arrived for a 10:30 Sunday brunch. Pricing is fair, but from what everyone was ordering around us, I feel that their specialty is Mexican breakfast which I am also a huge fan of, but that’s something to be aware before visiting. Inside is quite large with plenty of booth and counter seating. They have a fairly large menu that is filled with all sorts of classics but again I feel that their specialty is Mexican. I usually order the Eggs Benedict, but decided to mix it up for this breakfast and chose the Pancho Villa Scramble and added avocado and upgraded to Texas toast. In comparison to the scramble I had the day before it was not nearly as good. The onions and peppers were not cooked, and the potatoes were also quite large in square shape and also hardly cooked so it kind of clashed with the eggs. It wasn’t terrible, but I honestly did not enjoy it and would definitely not recommend or order again. Overall, I think there are much better locations in the valley and I don’t plan to be back in the future, although our service was great.

James Restaurant has a variety of breakfast offerings. My review is only of the Benedicts, nothing else. I want to let you know that have a "top ten" list for Benedicts. #1 being the best and #10 not as good. I found James Restaurant did not make my top ten. They could have a 5 star review with some changes. My rating is based on 3 weights : 70% = taste 20% = presentation 10% = price #1 - taste: They use Canadian bacon . I asked for easy poached eggs and was presented with the same. The Hollandaise sauce had a very distinctive flavor and taste. The reason I review Eggs Benedict is because of the difference in the flavor of the Hollandaise sauce. Their hash browns were shredded #2 -presentation : This is where they lose their stars. The presentation was totally off from being a typical eggs benedict. The hollandaise sauce is always on top of the eggs not under it. I have never seen any kind of eggs come from the kitchen with pepper on them. This might have been a new chef or a bad day. #3-price: $12.50 is right in line with Bennys with hash browns. Coffee for $3.29 a cup is just above the old normal. I am very picky about my Bennys. These were not the worst I had ever tasted but I suggest you try them for yourself.

This is a coffee shop restaurant. I wanted American breakfast of lunch and drove from Glendale because of the very good reviews. The menus is quite extensive but nothing seemed particularly interesting. What became immediately apparent is that anything contain pork chops or steaks was astronomically expensive. I would rather spend more eating at Damon’s in Glendale or at the Smoke House in Burbank spend the outrageous amounts charged at this place. I ordered the caesar salad with chicken. The hard boiled eggs, lettuce, tomato and dressing were fine despite the fact only the hard boiled eggs required actual preparation. The chicken was chewy and flavorless due to a lack of proper seasoning. I pushed the chicken to one side. The coffee was almost $4.00. The quality and flavor of the food didn’t warrant the long drive. Don’t understand this places high ratings.

I happened to find myself in San Fernando for work today. I could've gone to In 'N Out. I could've gone to Carl's Jr. I even could've gone to Taco Bell where managers are allegedly paid $100K now. But no. No. I went to James' Restaurant. I wanted to eat off the beaten path... Trouble is, James' is likely the actual beaten path. Look, walk into an old school diner like this, and you can pretty much guess what you'll get. Worn furniture, 1920's style cash register, the bar in front of the grill and a few TV's sprinkled around spewing daytime talk shows. Nostalgic? Yes. Does any of this make the food taste better? Not really. One waitress was literally giving me dirty looks the whole time and barely came around to serve. Sorry, do I know you? Did I perhaps break your daughter's heart once? Maybe I broke yours? I have no idea, but probably not so please stop giving me dirty looks and serve up the heartburn. A second waitress took our order, but only after she completed what seemed to be a version of bingo she was playing with two of her friends at another table. Obviously, this was not the busy shift (2pm on a Thursday). At any rate, food gets served... Hey, you got my sandwich and I think I got your onion rings. Ok, let's start picking food off my plate and get it on yours. That was interesting. Was the food good? If you don't mind that sleepy feeling you get after you ate too much of a menu selection with no vegetables, then yes, it was good. Go there for the memories. ...

I've always wanted to eat here, finally after driving by it for many years. I was finally in the neighborhood and had time to eat here. So believe me I was excited, and was excited enough to call my wife to let here know I was haven't breakfast at. So I walked in and got a bad response from the start. It seemed like the was only one waitress working. She said I could sit anywhere I'd like. I ordered ranchero t bone steak and eggs and waited. Fifteen minutes later she finally came back to tell me they don't have any t bone steaks left. Understandable, so I asked to see the menu again, and she rolled her eyes as she walked away. Then waited... finally getting a menu I decided on Chorizo con papas, and then WAITED....another 20 minutes later i got the food cold and it taste ok. I'm now waited as she BS's with other customers about their day....waiting... I think its funny how much time I have here waiting for a check, and all the time I have to write this review. I'd ask for the check but this restaurant has a glass window separating it into two rooms. I'm walking over now to just have her 10 bucks, and she can keep the change because I'm tierd of waiting. She really doesn't deserve a penny for this service.

Good prices had service, I guess you always get...
