It’s amazing how EXTREMELY different the two locations are. If given a choice please go to the Valencia Street locate if you want a good dining experience. After dining at this location I realized that we would have been better off going to the Popeye’s down the block.
Let’s begin with booking a reservation. After bending over backwards for a client, I decided to treat one of my employees to dinner. After attempting for almost two hours to make a reservation online, we decided to just go to the restaurant. When I brought the glitch to the attention of the hostess she just shrugged her shoulders. I wasn’t expecting her to fix the error or even apologize, but you would think that she would at least acknowledge my statement with “I’ll let a manager know”. That should have been our first and second sign to go elsewhere.
Once we were seated it took about 15 minutes before anyone even came to our table to acknowledge us. Our third mistake was staying instead of getting up and going elsewhere. It’s not like they were even busy. We arrived roughly 30 minutes after opening and the restaurant was far from busy. By the time that someone came to offer us water and take our drink orders we had already decided on our meals and went ahead and placed our orders for drinks, appetizers, and our main courses. Yet the party next to us (a party of two just like us) which arrived about 10 minutes after us and placed their order roughly 15 minutes after we placed ours, received their appetizers and main courses before we even received our appetizers. Again we stayed, simply based on the fact that we didn’t feel like locating another restaurant.
The one star is simply because of the fact that we enjoyed our appetizers (and because Yelp doesn’t allow a lower rating). Our main courses lacked flavor and were ill prepared. In case you’ve lost track that’s five issues.
The sixth was when we ordered dessert. Not wanting to stay any longer, we ordered our desserts to go. When our waiter brought them to us both desserts had been placed in one bag. I will admit that was an error on our part. We should have informed the waiter that we needed them bagged separately as we were going to two different locations. HOWEVER, that mistake didn’t warrant the reaction that we received. Our waiter looked at me as though I had offended him by asking for the desserts to be separated then snatched the bag from the table. I explained to him that he could just bring us another bag and we could separate them ourselves but he walked away. Upon his return he aggressively put down our newly bagged desserts. The only time that we got a pleasant reply from him was when we paid the bill and left more than a 20% tip. (Please note that the only reason that I left more than 20% is because I come from a service industry background and tip on the higher end of the spectrum because I know what it’s like to work in a tip based environment. And while tips should reflect the service, my history/experiences in the industry won’t allow me mentally to tip less than a certain amount.)
The final feather in the cap was our desserts themselves. I opened my bag in the car to discover some of the worst tiramisu that I’ve ever seen or tasted. After two bites I gave up. My employee informed me that when she got home her tiramisu was just as bad.
The experience as a whole left a disgusting taste in my mouth, but a friend persuaded me to still try the Valencia Street location. So on another day I gave that location a try. What a difference! The management team for the Valencia location needs to train the Divisadero team. And if they’re managed by the same person then they need to consider cleaning house...
Read moreMy now husband and I were lucky enough to have our September 2025 wedding at Beretta on Divisadero. The number one feedback we received from guests was that it was the best wedding food they've ever had. The calamari, arancini, meatballs, margherita with burrata pizza, and espresso martinis got the most shoutouts from guests. Everyone working that night was so accommodating and friendly and helpful; they felt like friends by the end of the night. We have nothing but amazing things to say about Raul and his staff. An additional shoutout to Courtney with events for being so easy to work with.
Aside from our wedding, we eat at Beretta often. It is one of our favorite restaurants - consistently great food and drinks, and a fun/vibey/cozy atmosphere. We go at least once a month for date night, but we also have gone for milestone occasions (30th birthday dinner, meeting the in-laws, etc). It is the perfect restaurant for both casual and special...
Read moreI was really surprised that this Beretta is much worse than the one in Valencia! Very disappointed by our experience. I had some of the worst service in my life here. Our waiter appeared really unhappy to be working that night, then ghosted us for a long period of time (over a half hour). I asked for the bill finally by going to the bar, the bartender gave me a look like it wasn’t his problem, and it took 15+ minutes for someone (not our waiter) to bring it.
The food was also pretty meh. We got 2 apps on happy hour, the lasagne and the burrata pizza. The lasagne was so cheesy and with an extreme amount of Béchamel that it was hard to eat. The pizza had no cheese on it apart from the burrata - it was like burrata on top with just sauce bread.
It was also very loud in that restaurant and hard to hear others.
I definitely do not plan to return to this location and it does make me question whether the Mission location has turned...
