Just had a the most bizarre experience, after having been a regular customer since they opened. I typically order take out, including a note that requests extra sauce on the Chicken Ka-arge. When I got home with my food, there wasn’t an extra sauce, but worse, the one I had was barely filled. It had like 1/16” of sauce in it. So I headed back to get some sauce and pout out the tiny amount. This was just inconvenient, but,Then it got weird. The hostess/server looked up my order and said, “There’s an extra charge for more sauce.” (Never has been) And, next time I’d have to pay. She handed me a sauce. When I pointed out that I really wanted 2 sauces, that the first was basically empty. She absolutely refused to acknowledge the lame first sauce, and would not give me a “second sauce.” I told her I’d been a customer for years, but she didn’t care one iota. Then when I said, “Well you’ve just lost a customer.” She responded with “Ok, give me the sauce back then.” Sadly, as much as I’ve enjoyed their food over the years, I’ve also enjoyed the customer care and hospitality that no longer seems to exist.

Sushi at this restaurant is absolutely 100% art. Everything from presentation to how many specific pieces of caviar is meticulously prepared by the sushi chefs. I came here for my 30th birthday, and was offered a complementary ice cream and chocolate cake dessert. The atmosphere was very friendly and social , we were approached by fellow diner’s, and struck up a conversation with someone eating near us. The service staff was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Buying the sushi chef beer produced three separate complementary not on the menu items. Each one was a flavor roller coaster I took my tongue to a new dimension of flavor. At times I had to stop eating just a process what exactly I had just put in my mouth. The fish was so fresh, so Tinder, and so raw. If you’re looking to experience quality sushi in San Francisco, I would highly recommend this location as it is world famous .

A high three star like 3.8, but I believe a bit overpriced for alright quality. Atmosphere was very good, and we sat at the bar. Many staff members welcomed us in once we stepped through the door. The gyu steak was underwhelming for us, and we did not have a choice in the rareness of the steak. It was very well done, but we prefer something medium rare. The salmon sashimi was my favorite and reminded me of certain ceviche I’ve had but with an asian twist with the wakame and sesame. Blue fin tataki was alright but my preference would be to sear the fish less cooked with a hotter sear so only the outside gets cooked. Still a solid meal with friendly staff and nice ambiance. I don’t see myself visiting a lot but it hit my sushi craving!

This is a 3.5 stars review.

First time hubs & I cam here we just had some oysters and the fried octopus legs, that was so good a week later we came for a full dinner.

Coming from the peninsula we are used to big generous portions, which was not the case here. The nigiri and the roll were "small. The nigiri were good, not great, I would preferred the fish to be much colder. Even though we usually love tuna, here it kinda felt like a supermarket sushi. "T" the amazing who was preparing our food, noticed that we weren't very satisfied with it offered us complimentary Toro which were tasty. I really appreciate people going above and beyond to please their customers and T definitely did, Kudos!

The sayuri roll was average in our opinion, but the octopus legs appetizer was as good as the first time!

I wouldn't come here for a full meal honestly, but I'd come back fro some oysters and fried...
