We stumbled upon Kevin & Chris’s Noodle House while exploring San Francisco’s Sunset district and decided to dive in for some comforting Vietnamese fare no reservations needed, and we were seated quickly in the casual dining room (put your name and party size on a sheet and they call your name). We ordered the medium pho along with shrimp appetizers and spring rolls, all of which impressed with their freshness, making it a solid spot for noodle lovers craving authentic flavors in the city.
ATMOSPHERE: This no-frills Vietnamese eatery channels a bustling, community vibe think basic decor with tightly packed tables seating about 40-50, fluorescent lighting, and that constant hum of quick-turnaround diners enjoying steaming bowls. The aroma of simmering broths fills the air, drawing locals and visitors alike in a perpetually lively space that’s efficient and unpretentious perfect for a casual meal in the Sunset, though it can feel crowded during peaks.
MENU: The menu highlights Vietnamese staples like pho in various sizes and proteins, rice plates, vermicelli bowls, and appetizers including spring rolls, shrimp cakes, and grilled meats. Broths are flavorful and balanced, with options for customization no fancy twists, but affordable and generous portions that keep it straightforward for noodle enthusiasts.
FOOD: Pho (Medium) The medium pho arrived piping hot with a rich, aromatic broth that’s not too fatty or salty, loaded with tender noodles, fresh herbs, and your choice of meats it was comforting and flavorful, easily one of the better bowls we’ve had in SF, perfect for slurping on a cool day.
Shrimp Appetizers and Spring Rolls Both the shrimp appetizers (crispy shrimp cakes) and spring rolls were crisp and freshly fried, with a golden exterior that gave way to juicy fillings, accompanied by a nice sweet and sour sauce that added a tangy kick without overpowering. They were addictive starters, great for sharing and setting the tone for the meal highly recommended for their texture and freshness.
SERVICE: Service was prompt and efficient our order came out ridiculously fast (within minutes), with friendly staff smiling and handling the busy room like pros, making us feel welcome despite the quick pace.
TIPS: No reservations, so go during off-hours to snag a table without wait, as it packs up quickly. Parking on Irving Street is street-only and competitive, so consider public transit like the N-Judah Muni line. Prices are reasonable (under $20 for a full meal), but portions are hearty watch for add-ons to customize. Pair your pho with a lychee shake for a sweet finish!
OVERALL: Was it worth the visit? Absolutely. Kevin & Chris’s Noodle House serves up crave-worthy Vietnamese comforts like fresh pho and crispy appetizers in a lively SF setting that’s all about quick, delicious satisfaction. We’ll be back for more bowls next time we’re...
Read morethis was my friends and i first time coming here and we are never coming back. first we walked in and this asian old lady didn’t even greet us and told us to sit at this table and just threw the menus at us and walked away not saying anything. she came back to take our order and was full on rude when i asked a simple question and was rushing us. she didn’t even let us finish ordering and was already taking our menus away.. she also does not know how to train her staff because they gave us the wrong orders 2 times. also asked for a fork and no one ever ended up giving me one and just left me hanging until i had to ask again. they also gave us our check too early without us asking and without even talking to us they just slammed it on our table and walked away. only nice one in that store was this very sweet young asian girl. not sure if that old asian lady is going through her menopause stage or that’s just how her personality is but she need to control that attitude and shouldn’t expect a tip LOL. and the food we ordered had no taste what so ever except for the pho. definetly not worth it and doesn’t even deserve a...
Read moreA very typical Asian joint, won't take Discover or Amex but expects you to pay cash or use Visa. Strolled in after a long time jogging around to fill in my empty stomach. This place had some great reviews which kind of made me inclined towards settling with vietnamese lunch. it's a pretty crowded joint with folks waiting to get seated and some typical rude waiters asking you to write your name down even before they ask if its dine-in or to-go. For to-go you head straight to the counter and an old lady with absolutely no smile on the face resembling a disgruntled school teacher hands you the menu to order and after you order the only word you get is "15 min-uu-ttes". I got a combo rice plate, took them about 30 min not an issue given the rush but what drives you a bit crazy is the haphazard way they arrange their to-gos but the packing was good enough to withhold the ride home. Food was not great but not bad, will I return is still tentative but if nothings around then won't mind giving it...
