I had a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE at the location on 3244 Scott St, San Francisco, CA 94123, but I decided to give their location on 1825 Irving St, San Francisco, CA 94122 a try because I really wanted a calzone and it was a much better experience and I'm so happy I tried. We went to the location on 3244 Scott St, San Francisco, CA 94123 on my birthday because my spouse wanted to get me a calzone as a birthday treat (I'm Sicilian and a lot of my family are New Yorkers or are in Sicily. I love a good calzone and we often venture to San Francisco every other weekend) The customer service at that location was very terrible. They were out of ricotta, but we tried to be good sports about it and accepted the substitute the nice cashier offered us instead of ricotta... The drama began when the cook got our order. He had a huge temper tantrum and said he wouldn't make it. We said nothing, but watched the cashier trying to convince him to do it. He was cursing and even gave us the middle finger whenever he thought we were not looking. A cook they said was new made it instead because he refused to. We didn't cause a stink or anything. We just took our order and left. It was a very sad birthday experience. I had been so excited to try it. I looked forward to it for weeks. But now that I have decided to try the location on 1825 Irving St, San Francisco, CA 94122, this restaurant is redeemed for me. They were so kind, so fast, and the food was great. I will ONLY go to the location on 1825 Irving St, San...
Read moreWhat makes a good pizza? This nonsensical, yet deeply philosophical, question has sparked countless debates and even more foodie documentaries.
I am here to say, i have found the answer - and it came to me after finishing my first slice at Hole in the Wall Pizza on Irving.
The modern era has given rise to Detroit style, we of course have had deep dish circling the drain for years now. Yet it is refreshing to still find a slice house that, after your first bite, floods you with contented feelings and nostalgic memories of why you (we) love pizza.
The ingredients, the atmosphere, the friendly staff and the hole in your heart ache that gets filled when you bite into that first beautiful slice after a long day - THAT is what makes a good pizza, and THAT is why i will be coming back time and again to Hole in the Wall Pizza on Irving (bonus points for offering the option of slices, not just the whole pizza and the great selection of vegan options - best hometown vegan pizza...
Read moreTbh I've been coming here for over 30 years since I was a child. The business underwent numerous significant changes overt the last 5 years or so, and in my opinion the food and experience was negatively affected. The other day I popped in for the first time in months and ordered 2 slices; Classic Combo and Pepperoni Mushroom. Tbh I came to get slices of Plain Cheese and Pepperoni but both of those looked like they've been sitting out for 8 hours, not appetizing. So I settled for the combo/Pep.Mush and it cost me approximately $14.50. Nearly $15 for two slices of Pizza which are not fresh and likely have been sitting over 2 hours at least. Honestly I contemplated turning around and walking out instead of finishing the transaction but I.didnt want to be rude. After eating the pizza, I regret not leaving, I felt very cheated for what I got for almost $15. I live down the street but I for sure won't be going again any time soon. It's getting...
