When these guys moved into our neighborhood and took over the location of Tres Underdogs I think many of us locals were thinking they were going to be similar to Underdogs. Immediately people were complaining about the prices being higher including me. What we failed to realize was this is not a taqueria/restaurant it's a nice Peruvian restaurant that just happens to also do burritos, quesadillas, burgers and fries but that's not the focus of the menu. Once Casa Barajas closed down I had no option but to give Lomo a try again to get my burrito fix. What the heck was I waiting for! I've had burritos all over this city and I have to say this is one of the tastiest burritos I've ever had. Seriously, it's packed with flavor and meaty of your choice. So far the steak and carne asada burritos are fire. I love their Cali Sunset burrito. The quesadillas w/ your choice of meat are not a side dish or a sharing item that is flat and cut into multiple pieces. They are a fat sandwich! And again packed with flavor. Their burger is also top notch. Especially when you add the rosemary bacon. I've been starting to frequent Lomo more to get my burrito or burger fix but realize this is not the focus of the menu and I'm excited to start trying out more items on the menu. The bar is a major upgrade from Underdogs with a great selection of quality booze and a fun cocktail menu. If you think the place looks a pricey that's because it's worth it just like any good restaurant that you will pay a little more at. But in saying that, $16 for a burrito is normal price just about anywhere and same goes for $16 for an 8oz delicious burger. Not expensive and worth...
Read moreAye aye, mateys! Our voyage to Lomo Libre Cantina was absolutely krusty krab-tastic! From the second we swam in, the bubbly and vibrant ambiance made us feel like we were right at home in Bikini Bottom. The crew was super friendly and knowledgeable, making us feel as welcome as a jellyfish at Jellyfish Fields.
The food? Oh barnacles, it was out of this world! We kicked things off with the deep fried seafood appetizer – perfectly crispy and bursting with flavor, just like the best Krabby Patty! Our main treasure was the lomo beef with noodles – tender, perfectly seasoned beef paired with noodles that were more delightful than a day of jellyfishing. Each dish was a perfect mix of traditional Peruvian flavors with a fun twist!
And let’s not forget the Pisco Sours – expertly crafted and more refreshing than a dip in Goo Lagoon. We also indulged in some lucuma ice cream for dessert, which was a sweet, delectable end to our feast.
Lomo Libre Cantina blew our expectations out of the water! We can’t wait to return and dive into more of their delicious menu. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience the best of Peruvian cuisine under...
Read moreLomo Libre Cantina offers a diverse menu with a focus on flavorful Peruvian cuisine. The Pisco cocktails are notably strong and well-prepared, setting a great tone for the meal. The Ceviche is fresh and flavorful, though it may be slightly spicy for some diners.
The Chupe De Marisco, rated at 8-10, presented a delicious taste but could benefit from more fish, broth, and creaminess. Similarly, the Arroz con Marisco earned an 8-10 rating; while the clams and scallops were ample and flavorful, the dish was somewhat lacking in shrimp, with only two pieces served.
Lomo Saltado was rated an overall 7-10. The sauce leaned towards a soy sauce flavor, missing the traditional aji panca, but the meat was cooked perfectly, and the rice was well-executed. Service was a highlight, characterized by excellent attentiveness and respect. Overall, Lomo Libre Cantina is a solid choice for a satisfying...
