UPDATE: (Actually 4.5 stars) We kept our word and came back to try the garlic mixed seafood!! We came around 7pm and there were a decent amount of people waiting. We put our name on the yelp guestlist before we left the house so we only waited maybe 10 minutes when we got there. We saw a lot of people around us ordering the shovel of seafood so we were really excited!!
We also ordered the string beans. The string beans came out a lot earlier than the garlic mixed seafood. The string beans were really fresh and tasted really good. We finished it by the time the seafood came out. While still good, I would've rather eaten it with the seafood. The seafood came out soon after on a shovel. The portions were actually perfect between two of us. It came with crab, shrimp, broccoli, cauliflower, corn, and fries. The shrimp got a little overcooked since they were hot in the pile. The crab was good, but hard to crack open. The fries tasted amazing!! I appreciated that they provided gloves for us.
While we were really excited to try the mixed seafood, I think I overhyped it for myself. I still love mr szechuan and will definitely come back again. I still want to try their hot pot and dry pot options! As well as their boba and desserts.

I used to come here when it was lollipot and saw the reviews and decided to give it a try.
We signed up for the waitlist at 8:15 and got seated around 8:45, with 10 parties ahead of us. We signed up before leaving so we weren't waiting at the restaurant for a long time. The place is pretty small and can get loud with big groups. While small, it has more tables than lollipot did.
We ordered the pork and cabbage iron pot, salt and pepper fish fillet, and the tofu and vegetable iron skillet. The iron pot is def a smaller alternative to the dry pot and has lots of vegetables. The food was very tasty and fair prices too.
We definitely plan to come back and try their dry spicy pot and garlic mixed seafood with a...
Read moreDidn’t have time to take any photos because we were too busy eating. Loved this place. First time ever trying szechuan food.
Got the cucumber salad, dumplings in chili oil, salt and pepper fish and the Szechuan beef. I say dumplings in chili oil, but really we kinda put the chili on everything. Except the beef which already had it.
We devoured it. We kept adding more and more chili. Food was amazing and served quickly. The numbing spicy sensation was new and exciting. It was a mellow spice meaning it’d give you burn but it wouldn’t sear your tongue off, meaning you could go for more. And the pro about the low heat meant the flavor of the food was able to really shine without the heat completely overpowering it like with other spicy foods.
Anthony Bourdain lists Szechuan food as one of the main ingredients for his hangover cure and after going here I can see why. It really wakes you up. But you don’t have to be hungover to have a reason to go here. It’s open til 1 and we are DEFINITELY going again. Overall total came out to $30 per person. Well worth it...
Read moreCame here on Labor day weekend and was not disappointed with our choice. Food came out fast, was tasty, and had a wide variety to satisfy everyone’s cravings.
FOOD: 5/5 We had spicy chicken, eggplant with string beans, Yang Zhou fried rice and Shezhuan lamb.
I liked that they didn’t douse everything in spice. For example, the lamb was mixed in with vegetables and green chili; by itself it wasn’t spicy, but if you can handle spice, kick it up with the chili peppers. Similarly with fried chicken. So everyone can eat up to their desired spice level.
Didn’t get their dry spice pot or the seafood mix (coz we didn’t think we could finish it). Will update this review once we try it.
SERVICE: 5/5 To be fair, we came in before the “official” opening hours. They said they would reopen at 5pm for dinner, but we got in at 4:45. Not high time for dinner in Sunset. So service was all good.
LOCATION/DECOR: 4/5 Clean, minimal decor. At a good location in town for Shezhuan food. Can be hard to find parking.
Overall highly...
