UPDATE: I've been going here for a long time now and have noticed how much it has changed and how popular this boba shop has gotten now. I still appreciate the amount of space this place has and how clean it is too. Their food is really good! I was honestly quite skeptical of how their noodle soup would taste, but it's actually really tasty! I also typically order their pork banh mi. Usually the sandwiches are very stuffed, but I have gotten a few skimped out sandwiches before. For drinks, their oolong milk tea with boba is my go to drink. Their mango green tea is also really good. Their drink sizes are pretty big and the large should definitely be shared. Their boba quality is consistent and has really improved over time. Their prices have gone a bit higher, but I think it's worth it for the quantity and quality.
I highly recommend ordering by phone because it can get quite busy!
I've come here a few times. The sign is a little misleading, as it isn't really My Cup of Tea, but actually Cool Tea Bar. I liked that this place is open late, until midnight. It's really big inside, with lots of tables and free wifi, so I thought it would be an ideal place to study. I came around 9PM on a Tuesday and it was SO CROWDED. People were really loud and it was pretty hard to study. I assume a lot of students were here hanging out here since it's summer. Even after ordering, I noticed a lot of people still came inside.
I ordered the pork banh mi and a mango slush. For $6, the banh mi was pretty cheap (definitely cheaper than dinosaurs up the street). However, it took 20 minutes to make. Thankfully, they didn't make the drink until the food was done, so the drink wasn't all melted. I got the drink 50% sweet, but it still seemed pretty sweet. The regular size is actually really big and the large size is definitely meant to be shared. The sandwich was pretty tasty and decently sized. The other banh mi sandwiches they have are $8 though. I stayed for about an hour, before I just left since it was just so loud.
While not ideal to study, as it was really crowded and loud, but I can appreciate the drinks are really big and taste pretty good. This place can be a great place to hang out, especially since they also have board games available. I would definitely get the pork banh mi again. They also have other food like popcorn...
Read moreUpdate Dec 13th, 2022: these two love birds can't keep their hands off each other. Normally not something i care about. But when you aren't calling out hot food items and they're toward the back of the counter like it's not whole or ready (instead of the front like it's ready for pick up) i start to get annoyed. Food getting cold and they still aren't calling it out. It's impressively bad service. Like you have to actually try to be this bad. And they're hugging front to front, front to back, kissing, and all sorts in the front. So what you want if you clear the orders in a timely manner. But eating face instead of calling out orders until i get so annoyed, ask, and then they look and give me one ketchup packet for French fries?! Who TF uses one ketchup packet?! That's good for about 1/2 a French fry!
With that said, at least they get the boba drinks right. Although, look for your order because, again, too busy eating face to call them out.
(Original post) A simple place to get decent boba drinks and good Bahn Mi sandwiches. Simple like that quick place but much better quality like that place with the cow that's purple. I REALLY appreciate that. Everyone is getting too fancy with boba drinks. I appreciate the quality but a boba drink isn't fine dining. Another thing they do is consistency! I like not having to worry about who makes it. They're...
Read moreDrinks are always solid at this place. 5 stars for the drinks and how consistent they are with their flavors.
However this review is specifically about the staff there. Negative stars if possible. I'm standing in line at 10:45pm. CTB closes at 11pm, but the place is still packed with customers. I'm the 3rd person in line. Guy at cashier takes the order of the 2 people in front of me. He organizes the cups after taking their order. Then doesnt make any eye contact with me or give any indication that I should step up to give my order. Only after I walked up on my own initiative that he told me he wasnt taking any more orders bc of the queue of drinks they already have. My issues with this are
I'm the only other person in line. Literally nobody else behind me but you won't take my order. Had I not stepped up on my own, the cashier would've just let me stand there without even telling me that he wasn't taking any more orders. Rude.
I'd rather go the distance and travel to Chinatown for CTB. This place is trash. Train your...
