I used to love this place a few years ago, now it's a bit disappointing. I ordered online, the last few times, to skip the line. The first time, I had to wait ten minutes past my pick up time and this time my food was cold. Last time it was very saucy. The salad had a puddle under it and I have more sauce than rice on my island chicken. This time it was barely dressed and I had twice the amount of rice. My chicken katsu was alright, a little dark but I can get past that. I cannot, on the other hand, get pass the piece that was oozing fat and breading. It's just too inconsistent to go back. Portion sizes are generally great. I love the balance of protein, carbs and veg. It's just you never know if your order will be ready on time, if it'll be cold or hot. Or, if it's going to be a worthy quality if you're paying $17 for a plate. Regarding the customer service.. they seem a bit socially awkward. So both times I've gone they see me and either turn around or they start fiddling with things or ignore me. When they finally acknowledged me they were friendly but it was strange. It was reminiscent of when you see someone new and fiddle while deciding when or how to approach. So, like I said, the food is decent but inconsistent but I won't be going back to...
Read moreFood was cold all the way through. As an Islander, having been to several local Hawaiian restaurants, it was quite disappointing to say the least and was expecting good quality hot food. Rice was not even warm at all, katsu was so dried out and bbq beef was salty and dry as well. Customer service was just as poor as the food was. In actuality, there was nothing “ONO” about experience today. Doors were both wide open and flies inside the restaurant, completely lost my appetite!
Fast forward—-I noticed an older Asian woman sitting right outside the front door of Ono, she decided to scrummage through the trash bin after seeing three young boys dump their empty food plates and I stopped her and told her not to dig through the trash . I ended up ordering her a full meal with some water on the side for her to eat fresh and not find her food in the trash. There’s always a saying, you may not be able to help everyone out there, but at least you can help one person on...
Read moreWhen I was working at Lowell, this was one of my most frequently visited restaurants for lunch, and sometimes even dinner, as it offers ample portion for a fairly reasonable price.
Depending on the day and the staff of the day behind the counter, however, wait can be average to quite lengthy. Food quality, however, has been fairly consistent, and reasonably fresh, although definitely not the best I have ever had when it comes to Hawaiian B.B.Q.
The portion is ample (but only if you order meat, or at least mostly meat) but if you only eat seafood like me, be prepared to be a little hungry upon finishing your lunchbox.
Overall, a good place, although customer service is not always the best, even when there is not...
