I recently had the pleasure of dining at Pancake Boy, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. The restaurant's cozy atmosphere and friendly staff immediately made me feel welcome. However, it was the lemon ricotta pancakes and homemade pork sausage that truly stole the show. Let's start with the lemon ricotta pancakes. As soon as the plate was placed in front of me, I was captivated by their fluffy and golden appearance. The aroma of fresh lemon zest wafted through the air, instantly making my mouth water. With the first bite, I was transported to pancake heaven. The pancakes were incredibly light and airy, with just the right amount of tanginess from the ricotta and zing from the lemon. The combination was simply divine. Each bite was a burst of citrusy goodness, perfectly balanced with the sweetness of the maple syrup drizzled on top. It was a symphony of flavors that left me craving for more. Now, let's talk about the homemade pork sausage. I am a self-proclaimed sausage enthusiast, and Pancake Boy's version did not disappoint. The sausage was juicy, flavorful, and had a perfect balance of spices. It was evident that the sausage was made in-house, as the quality and taste were far superior to any store-bought variety. The meat was tender and succulent, with a hint of smokiness that added an extra layer of depth to each bite. Paired with the pancakes, it created a harmonious combination that left me in breakfast bliss. Aside from the exceptional food, the service at Pancake Boy was top-notch. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about their menu. They were more than happy to answer any questions and provide recommendations, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. In conclusion, Pancake Boy is a hidden gem that should not be missed. Their lemon ricotta pancakes and homemade pork sausage are a match made in breakfast heaven. Whether you're a pancake lover or a sausage aficionado, this restaurant will undoubtedly satisfy your cravings. I cannot wait to return and explore more of their menu offerings.

The Pancake Boy restaurant serves some of the fluffiest, most delicious pancakes I’ve ever had. We ordered the lemon ricotta soufflé pancake and the chilaquiles verdes, and both were fantastic. The pancake was light and airy, with just a touch of ricotta filling for subtle richness. The portion was generous, perfect for sharing or a hearty meal. The chilaquiles verdes were equally satisfying—crispy tortilla chips in a flavorful green sauce, topped with cheese and a perfectly cooked egg. With the rain outside, we chose indoor seating, which was cozy and comfortable. The service was friendly, attentive, and quick. Whether you’re in the mood for something sweet or savory, The Pancake Boy is a must-try!

As others have said, it's a solid brunch spot in Noe Valley. You can't reserve a table, so you have to get there pretty early to stand in line. Not sure if it's Asian-owned or just staffed, but the menu is pretty eclectic. The ambiance was interesting as it felt like a standard diner inside. I suggest eating outdoors if the weather is nice. We ordered the ube lattes (can't make these bad) and an order of ube pancakes (delicious and sinful). For breakfast, we ordered an SF omelet (huge and filling) and an avocado toast (delicious with pickled onions). We went home feeling satisfied! But if you don't like waiting in line, there are other spots that have similar offerings where you can reserve tables.

A friend and I took advantage of a big game day, when much of the city was holed up at home or at a bar preparing to watch the game, to come here for brunch, waiting no more than 10 or 15 minutes before being seated. With neither of us too hungry, we opted for (and didn't even finish) the:

Banana Mascarpone Souffle Pancake - While everyone else seems to love the fluffiness of these pancakes, we found it a little too soft for our tastes, especially combined with the bananas, as the only more textured component of the entire dish were the nuts, leading to mouthfuls of mostly, well, mushiness.

Corned Beef Hash - This dish, on the other hand, was quite a tasty pick, and reminded me almost of a deconstructed eggs benedict, in a way. Good flavors, with some excellent poached eggs on top, the only flaw being that the potatoes were a bit on the harder side (the fries, however, were excellent).

Portions for both dishes were quite generous, so, given the normal (high-ish) price of brunch, there's good value to be had here.

Accessibility Info

Venue - While the walkway between tables is a bit on the more narrow side, as long as someone else isn't trying to squeeze by at the same time, a wheelchair should have little trouble fitting.

Bathroom - Didn't...

Seemingly a lesser known brunch place perhaps by virtue of residing in Noe Valley, but it's certainly a hidden gem with less wait time to boot. The restaurant itself is fairly small, and there's only a couple of outdoor tables, but the menu overall doesn't disappoint. The three items I tend to eat the most are the banana mascarpone pancakes, the breakfast sandwich, and the seaboard benedict.

The banana mascarpone pancakes are fantastic, though perhaps a bit over sweet. The strong point is the mascarpone in the middle, making them very fluffy and light. Get some real maple syrup to go with it.

The breakfast sandwich is good, but to be honest can sometimes upset my stomach with the greasiness, which is due to the sausage. Still, served on a brioche bun, and served with potatoes, it's a great breakfast.

The seaboard benedict is my recent favorite, which as you might guess is a benedict including crab and shrimp meat. The combination of meats works really well and leaves you wanting more.

I can't say I've tried much of the rest of the menu, but nothing else particularly jumped out. You'll find better brunch spots in San Francisco (e.g. Zazie, Plow) but it's perfect for a low key breakfast in the...
