What happened to this place?! Came here six months ago and found it decent, came again last night and was horrendous.
First of all the guy at the counter seemed like having a job bothered him and despite us repeating the order twice, he missed adding items that we ordered. Native English speaker so not sure what was going on.
When the food came we were not giving utensils and we couldn’t find clean utensils on the adjacent tables. I had to come to the register to ask for them. Fine kept on hoping for the food to be decent.
The lazi chicken was literally covered in chiles 🌶️ like who on earth eats 50 chilies and barely any chicken? The kids menu, we ordered it with tamari braised chicken and came with hard as rock chicken nuggets. I had to inquire multiple times to get a little cup with the chicken I had ordered because my kid could not even get her teeth in the nuggets.
The table was sticky, tons of flies under. Felt like I was eating in the yuckiest place.
By midnight we were all sick and had to take alka seltzer to be able to let our...
Read moreThe best Chinese American restaurant in America. Why? (1) Many of America's Chinese restaurants aren't really even authentic Chinese flavors or dishes. China has perhaps the longest and most eclectic history of cuisines spanning several regions, and it took living there for over nine years to show me that. And (2) this chain actually imbues its dishes with those flavors and dish styles, albeit Americanized (e.g. the delectable and one-of-a-kind Chicken battered pineapple bun sandwich). Supported by one of San Francisco's Michelin Chefs, this brand's dishes are few but all very flavorful. The Soda is creamy and the chrysanthemum salad is refreshingly light. You can even get specialty soft serve and house wine at any time of the day.
Beyond taste, Mamahuhu's culture is friendly, warm, casual, and cultured. While the name's Mandarin meaning (horse horse tiger tiger) usually means "so-so", the classy clean ambiance demonstrates the brand's ironic humor. It's a welcome addition to Noe's community and I hope they stay for many...
Read moreMamahuhu is definitely still dealing with growing pains as a newer restaurant but the food quality is excellent as is the service. I was very excited to try Mamahuhu because it is from the chef at Mr. Jius and while it couldn’t be a more different experience than that restaurant, I will be back frequently. All the food was very flavorful and the fried rice was some of the best fried rice ive ever had. We went at opening and ordered both fried chicken sandwiches only to be told they were sold out after ordering - however we were able to easily replace them with other more expensive chicken items at no up charge (the right thing to do from a customer service perspective). The food also came out a little slow, but not crazy slow and so we were offered free dessert too (which was fantastic). There are many places that make worse mistakes than this and do not make it right so they get bonus points for that attention to customer service. Looking forward to trying the sandwiches on...
