This without a doubt is my absolute favorite ice cream place in San Francisco! When I first moved to the city, I was looking for a sweet treat and happened upon this creamery, located in Inner Sunset conveniently near to Golden Gate Park. I tried out their flavors and immediately fell in love, so much so that I ended up visiting them four times during my first week living in the city.
They offer a great selection of flavors, 4 consistent favorites and another 4 that rotate based on the seasons and what's available. Every time I go back, I quickly mind myself a new favorite and I haven't stopped! If you don't know which flavor you want, they also offer flights, where you can sample several different flavors!
I'm usually not an ice cream cone person, but their house-made cones are to die for. I highly recommend getting your scope in a cone, you definitely won't regret it! There's just so many good things I could say about this shop, that I don't even know where to stop. The owners (when they're in store) are super friendly and it's always been a pleasure to chat with them. The store itself is a bit on the small side, so seating may be difficult to find if you stop in during a busy hour (but hey with Golden Gate Park right down the street, who's to say you can't enjoy your ice cream with a stroll).
If you ever find yourself in the Inner Sunset area, I highly highly recommend stopping by this gem. And I can only hope you'll love it as...
Read more2 brothers from the middle east with a dream to make really good ice cream. They made a smart move to source local, organic, ingredients from within a 200 mile radius (mostly). Think vanilla, mint, cardammon, milk, the works. They also went the extra mile to make their own waffles - which are a beautiful complement to the nuanced flavors of their ice cream.
To cater to the vegan or lactose-intolerant, they experimented with non-dairy options and created one of the best chocolate flavor - delicious, rich and creamy - without being syrupy sweet. You taste the decadence of fine toasted cocoa.
What I like is they offer you a junior version called a smidge. This lets you get two flavors without a 1000 calories. More importantly, it is their unique flavors, with the herbs and spices that give this place a leg up. I can safely say this is the second best ice cream place in San Francisco. #1 goes to Garden.
If you love chocolate, try their german chocolate, make it into a sundae, add some waffles, and lather with their home-made chocolate sauce. And you die and go to a...
Read moreI visited SF home town creamery had a delightful experience! The shop was bustling, but the staff were friendly and efficient, and I only waited in line for about 10 minutes.
I tried the peanut butter chocolate fudge and cookie dough flavors, and both were creamy and delicious. The peanut butter fudge was particularly refreshing, with a perfect balance of sweetness and nutty chocolate. The cookie dough chunks were generous and added a nice texture. Honestly, this is the best ice cream I have ever had. I can’t wait to try more flavors.
The service was top-notch, with the staff happily answering questions and offering recommendations. Thank you to Cecilio. Not sure if I write it correctly. Great service! Definitely going back.
Overall, I highly recommend SF hometown creamery to anyone looking for a tasty and enjoyable ice...
