I wasn't sure what to expect form The Taco Shop...basically I had no expectations or any prior knowledge of this place... It was highly recommended by locals that live in the area...Six degrees of separation type of deal... So glad to report a brilliantly pleasant experience. This review is bought to you during the fabulous 2020 COVID experience (my attempt at Sarcasm). So of course, the main concern regarding Dining in is addressed...Outdoor seating. The interior was closed to the public, however one could go in and place an order to go or use the restroom. There was a decent amount of outdoor seating, we were fortunate enough to grab a long table. The staff was lovely, checked up on us frequently and cheerfully answered our questions. We also witnessed them cleaning up between...errr sanitizing the seating area between patrons. On to the Foodie life: ~ Nachos son Muy Grande - 5/5 Chorizo At first glance this thing is massive! Talk about generous portions...this thing is a meal onto itself. We definitely weren't expecting it to be this big. Nothing bad about it at all...Plenty of Guac, melted Cheese and Meat. The Nachos were thick and sturdy enough to hold everything. Brilliant! ~ Salsa - 5/5 4 different types of salsa...Each one with a different flavor and a level of heat as well. Tastes like it was homemade...maybe made in-house? I can't remember. ~ Super Burrito w/ Carne Asada - 5/5 Another tasty meal onto itself...I didn't even get a chance to take a pic of this one! Good Size Burrito! I'm all about quality over quantity...and when I get both I'm ecstatic! This was a bit too much food, so had to save half the Burrito for later...good news! It was still tasty the next day! I got no problems coming back here and trying other things on the menu.

Love underdogs. I’ve been here plenty of times for their awesome street tacos and some drinks. It’s a bar that gets busy for good reason but service is always spot on. Recently, someone suggested I try their breakfast burritos so we stopped here after a long run for a carne asada breakfast burrito and a michelada and I wasn’t disappointed. The eggs and steak were perfectly cooked and it had a great flavor. I think they are using tarot tots on the burrito which I appreciate. I’ve been reviewing micheladas around the city recently and this one is ok. I think they are using their Bloody Mary mix for these and that’s fine but not technically a michelada. Still, it was delicious and I was not at all disappointed. It’s been a neighborhood institution for a long time and I’m very happy to see that things haven’t changed. Come here for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Doesn’t matter it’s all amazing.

I came across The Taco Shop looking for somewhere to eat for lunch. Sadly, the reviews are overhyped and this place is not even in the ballpark of a real Mission street taqueria! I ordered the nachos muy Grande with chorizo. The portion given is quite large, but that's the only good thing about it. That guacamole had no flavor, the chips where soggy, and the chorizo was dry and lacked flavor. I felt like I was given an order that was sitting in the back all day. Anyways, I would not recommend this place to anyone. The food is mediocre and the prices are a little on the expensive side. That said, this place is more of a bar, so the prices and ambience reflect that. The only reason I gave two stars was because the few bites I did eat, filled me up when I was starving.

An unexpected and pleasant surprise. We had a large party that randomly stopped in just because this was the only place in the vicinity that could even think about having us.

Food: The food was surprisingly good. I had zero or even low expectations but the food here is very solid. The burritos/bowls are amazing especially when you think about the price when compared to anywhere else you might get a burrito. The red and green salsas were also spectacular, though don't expect them to be spicy, because they aren't. Quesadillas were fine; it's hard to grade any quesadilla as anything much more than that. The kids seemed to like it and I guess that's all that matters. The pico & guacamole were great as well, even if the tortilla chips were a bit sturdier than I'd prefer. Jaws def got a slight workout from those.

Dessert: The churros were great with the dipping sauces they were paired with. Light, crispy/crunchy, airy in the middle. The chocolate mousse was ok. If you're not dying for chocolate mousse, this is probably a pass. It's not bad; but it's not great. (full disclosure I did not try the mousse; I'm just regurgitating comments about this one)

Service: The service was hit and miss. I'm pretty forgiving here because we were a large party, the place was slammed, and they were evidently under gunned for all the patrons (not just our group). However, the service we did get, when we got it, was good. The staff were pleasant in spite of the hurry they were all in. Clearly the service would have been spectacular if they had even 1 more person working. Regardless, they were great. I wish I had gotten the name of our server so I could call him out here; he was definitely putting...

TLDR; Bad service where they lost an order and then forgot to include items. Inaccurate menu means you can’t account for food allergies/issues.

My friends and girlfriend love this place, but I’ve had three bad experiences.

The first one the food was mediocre but the crowd was obnoxious, as was the wait.

The second, they forgot/lost our order. We had waited patiently for an hour after ordering the first time, only to have to ask the staff where our food was. After asking three more times and waiting 30 more minutes, they took our order again and we had to wait even longer.

The last time (today) we ordered delivery. Two items out of three weren’t in the bag, despite being on the receipt. The third was wrong — they claimed I ordered a bowl when it clearly said on DoorDash it was a burrito. Rather than suggesting it was DoorDash’s mistake, the manager pushed back against my girlfriend and told her that we ordered a bowl. To make matters worse, the bowl came covered in dairy. I can’t eat it (worse than lactose intolerance). The menu did not list dairy at all as an ingredient. Given their strict rule of “no substitutions” they turn off the DoorDash feature that allows you to make comments, so I couldn’t even include a note that I couldn’t have dairy. Either give an accurate menu that reflects the ingredients or allow comments!!! That meant that I went without anything to eat from Underdog. I ordered from a different restaurant instead and was happy for it.

The “atmosphere” feels like a college cafeteria. Always loud, crowded, and chaotic. And the margaritas are just lime flavored sugar water.

Three strikes, you’re out. I will never order anything...
