Smitten Ice Cream is located in San Francisco's Mission District and born from a desire to provide ice cream afficionados with fresh made-to-order ice cream. This mission then led to the construction of the patented Brrr machine, which utilizes liquid nitrogen to create smooth, rich, and delicious ice cream in 90 second flat (spoiler alert: that means you never have to wait long for your sweet treat). The storefront is on the modest side; however, it does boast both indoor and outdoor seating if you wanted to enjoy your ice cream in the area. Their flavors rotate seasonally, which means there's always going to be something new for you to try!

We arrived at Smitten Ice Cream on Thursday evening looking for a post-dinner treat. There's wasn't a line at this hour, so we were able to walk up and place our orders easily without much wait. After a few moments of deliberation, we decided to get small scoops of both the brookies 'n cream and cookie dough with pretzels and chocolate chip flavors (the later of two in a waffle bowl). True to their promise, the ice cream was freshly prepared and ready in almost no-time.

Both flavors were creamy, smooth, and absolutely delicious. The brookies 'n cream provided a smooth yet subtle chocolate flavor thanks to the brownies and cookies folded into the ice cream base. On the other hand, the cookie dough with pretzels and chocolate chips featured a malted brown sugar base with the aforementioned delicious mix-ins.

If you're an ice cream fiend looking for some scrumptious made-to-order ice cream, then you should definitely add Smitten Ice Cream to...

While visiting San Francisco, I went to Smitten Ice Cream. Having the ice cream here was one of my favourite highlights of my trip to California! I got the Brookies ‘N Cream and Chocolate Ganache flavours in their House-Made Waffle Bowl. I absolutely loved the chunks of brownies and cookies in the Brookies ‘N Cream flavour, especially the big chunks! I also loved the strong and rich flavour of chocolate in the Chocolate Ganache flavour. Their Home-Made Waffle Bowl was just amazing! It was quite strong and thick and held the ice cream scoops without breaking down at all, but it also wasn’t very hard and it was quite flavourful.

It’s also really cool how they make the ice cream fresh right in front of you. Every order is made fresh using the ingredients for the ice cream and liquid nitrogen right in front of you in approximately 90 seconds, which I think is amazing.

I am so glad that I came here, and I really enjoyed both the ice creams and the...

The ice cream is definitely memorable: it wouldn't be surprising if you tasted it and thought "this is the best icecream I have eaten in my entire life". Creamy, tasty, 5*. The place is busy, but they make sure you feel welcomed while in line (WE WELCOME ALL sign on the door -- kudos). You can keep yourself entertained while waiting by watching their ice-cream churning "Brrr" machine. The service is not 5 stars, so be ready to jump to anything that shows up, otherwise your icecream may just be left on the counter (the order might be changed in the making), but once you taste it you are most likely forget about the glitch. The interior is nonchalant and is a perfect fit for the Mission's all-is-possible and better-be-different ...
