We came here with a large group, and even without a reservation, the owner was incredibly kind and accommodating--they quickly arranged tables for us with no hesitation. The service throughout was genuinely welcoming. The owner even took time to translate the menu for those of us not fluent in Cantonese and offered helpful recommendations, which we really appreciated.
Unfortunately, the food wasn't quite as good as the service. The soup was overpoweringly heavy on white pepper, which masked the other flavors. We also tried the eel clay pot rice, but it was a bit too salty, likely due to too much soy sauce already mixed in. We found that the chicken clay pot rice which had less soy sauce was more enjoyable, as you can control the seasoning yourself. Additionally, the crispy rice at the bottom of the clay pot wasn't cooked properly, which was kind of disappointing.
While we truly appreciated the hospitality and friendliness of the staff, the food overall left us wanting more in terms of balance and execution. We'd consider giving it another try for the service alone, but we hope to see some improvement in the...
Read moreHas to be the best lunch deal in the city. 2 item lunch box w/ your choice of rice or noodles for 8.80, 3 item for 10.80. I ordered the 3 item and the food was nearly bursting out of the box (absolutely a good thing, amazing portions). You are escorted to a small counter where you are helped by a very nice lady, here you can visually see all the offerings and select them at your discretion. Your order is bagged with napkins, utensils, and condiments if it's a to go order. The interior, I would say, resembles the interior of most L&L barbecues, definitely a working class environment—and as such one should humble themselves and give the utmost respect to these workers, as they are providing a filling, delicious meal at an incredible value. Here is not the place to go if you are the kind of person to nitpick and complain. I think places like these exude nothing but pure...
Read moreHow nice of this Ingleside addition. Any hungry college student can walk a few blocks and eat delicious piping hot clay pot rice Taishan style.
I ordered the spare ribs clay pot rice. Took about 20 minutes for the pot to cook. Free soy milk came along with the order. A side of soy sauce came in a bowl. The taste of the ribs were good and the soy sauce elevated the whole dish. I wish the soy was in a sauce bottle so I can have more of their special soy sauce.
Their menu also has rice rolls, clay pot rice, bone broth soup, dimsum, porridge, house specials, won ton noodle, dry or wet style, chow fun and chow mein and many more! See my pics.
Over all the ambiance was nice. A lot of grandma and grandpas were eating there too meaning the food just be good! Don’t forget about their daily $8 specials. I hope to be back to try more...
