Still the same after all these years... I can always rely on this franchise to be consistently good! I have been to every single one up and down the SF Peninsula. Each one has a different location, and their venues are similarly formatted from signage to cafetería seating.

That is except for the original from South San Francisco. It is a stand alone restaurant with a quaint wood tiled roof with a cute steeple that looks like it could've been a Hoot Judkins or Ben Franks at one time or another. That's because San Mateo County has more real estate to build upon than SF does.

Still, I remember when it was shot up at the turn of the century and ply wood covered the fascade just like Jack in the Box in SSF got sprayed in a drive by. Thank goodness those days are OVA! The food is the same reliably and may they never go away. They aren't the best, but they aren't the worst.

You could do a lot worse with fast food at McDonalds up the street, but if you want the closest thing to Mexican fast food, you can't go wrong with this franchise chain of taquerias! I have my favorites, but this close to where I work at ZSFGH? I choose El Metate or here.

We like the Panadería and Ice Cream soda spot on the way, so when my work husband, George, feels froggy, we come here! We have 15 mins to eat after the walk, wait, and walk back, but it MUST be worth it!

I now have lunch waiting for me in the fridge at wk for TOMORROW TOO! CANNOT beat that value anywhere else, hands down for that price anywhere else in "The City." Solomente en La Mission donde the realest of the real still reside! Calle veinte quatro may be gentrifying, but locally, good food NEVER goes away!

God/dess bless the hands that serve every meal. Keep them and their families healthy and safe bc we are ALL...

“A little lighthouse for your late‑night cravings, El Farolito guides you home.” As a New Englander who grew up chasing lighthouses along rocky Maine coasts, I can’t help but enjoy El Farolito’s logo “the little light” and the way it guides hungry San Franciscans to some of the city’s most legendary burritos. Founded in 1983 by Salvador “Don Chava” Lopez Monroy after he struck out on his own from Taqueria San Jose, El Farolito began in a tiny Mission District storefront with a borrowed pizza oven. Lopez named it “El Farolito” (Spanish for “little lighthouse”) in homage both to a spot he’d worked at back in Mexico City and to the warmth and guidance a beacon brings to a community. From that first outpost on Mission and 24th Streets, El Farolito’s Mission‑style burritos, overstuffed with rice, beans, cheese, and grilled meats, earned Esquire’s “most life‑changing burrito in America” title in 2013. Today the family-operated chain has a dozen Bay Area locations, all still helmed by Lopez’s descendants, serving massive, affordable burritos late into the night. Every time I go I get their boss burrito, a surf and turf amalgamation of shrimp and beef, alongside their unlimited house‑made salsa verde. It feels like finding that steady beam of light on a foggy coast. El Farolito isn’t just food; it’s a beacon of immigrant ingenuity, community, and that comforting glow you always want to...

If you want the best burritos in the Bay Area, you need to visit El Faralito! I will avoid all other taquerias within an hour and exclusively go here. Prices are extremely reasonable, portions are large, and the flavor of the carne asada is second to none! Most locations are no frills inside and usually crowded, but the food is well worth it. The best items on the menu are the super burrito and the super quesidilla. You won't find a better taqueria in the entire Bay Area! On a side note, the Concord location does not serve burritos that taste the same as all of the other locations. We always pass up that location even though it is so close to us because the food there is not as good as all the other locations. The meat doesn't taste the same nor do they use Avocado slices in their burritos, instead the use an inferior guacamole blend that isn't good. All San Francisco locations as well as the San Jose location is where you will...

Had heard great stuff about this place (or it's namesake or maybe even cousin, by the 24th Street BART station?) so it was an obvious choice when I decided to explore the mission again recently. This is a place that you come to only for the food and it's important to set the expectations accordingly. In spite of that I was happy to find the place clean and the staff really friendly and helpful. The food is very affordable and of course lived up to the reputation that brought me here. I tried a torta Mexicana (Mexican sandwich) on this visit, with al pastor as my choice of meat. Will definitely be back again when in the area. Pro tip: cash only and be prepared to stand in line (fast moving)

Amazing burrito place in the heart of San Francisco. I had the super veggie burrito and it has tasty rice, beans, grilled veggies, crunchy lettuce, cheese, sour cream, green onions whoa.. amazing good. Each burrito is of enough size to fill out tummy yet can be easy handled with one hand. Also the Strawberry aqua fresca was a perfect combo to cool your senses. Complimentary chips and salsa with multiple refills keeps your appetite going on.. Front desk and staff are amazing who listens and understands thier customers. If anyone visits SF I highly recommend this place if you are looking to have good Mexican food.
