We had such a bad service experience here. 4pm 09 March 2020 we came in to watch our favourite NHL team play. We are from Australia and are trying to see as much hockey while in the US on holiday. The first bartender was helpful and put the game on for us to watch, he ended our four drink tab at the end of his shift so we could tip him. The next bartender ruined our night. He was an older man (45-55) who started between 6:00pm and 6:30pm. We initially refused more drinks he offered, as we didn’t know the game would go to OT/SO. We then tried to flag him down for a drink for 15 minutes while he chatted behind the bar, used his phone and stacked empty glasses, blatantly ignoring us. Without warning he flicked all but one TV off the Ice hockey game we were watching, when it had 3 minutes left on the clock. He then messed with the only showing TV, which started cycling channels. We were very distressed as we’d been watching for hours and we called out for his attention multiple times while he turned his back and completely ignored both me and my girlfriend calling out to him. Only when the audio cut out did he decide to pay attention, realise he had stuffed it up and fixed it. Also note the original bartender had notified the new bartender that we had specifically asked to watch the hockey and to leave the tv on. When we went to leave, my girlfriend went to the bathroom and I put my coat on, waiting to go outside. The bartender then started talking to a customer who sat where we were saying words to the effect of: “Thank god you’re here, the last two sitting there were watching this TV and doing my bloody head in...” he trailed off when he noticed I was still standing there. It’s so annoying to be blatantly ignored but to badmouth to other customers is infuriating. What could have been a great bar was let down. Whether this is because of not receiving a tip or not, this man should not work in...
Read moreThis is the best sports bar in the upper Haight neighborhood. Period.
Sports viewing: There are somewhere between 20 and 30 flat screen, high def TVs and they play pretty much any sport you can find on TV. If you're an English soccer fan, you'll love that they open really early for those 6am matches. They regularly show rugby and soccer matches, hockey, baseball and basketball games. Sunday's during the NFL season gets crazy as they show every game on the schedule and fans of every team show up to watch with fellow supporters. Overall, it's a great place to watch your team.
Food and drink: They serve great bar food. You probably won't order anything that you can't describe as good. Some highlights are their wings (which are the best in the area in my opinion) and their freshly made potato chips. That along with all your standard bar food will get you through whatever game you're there to see. They have a decent beer selection, but it could be better. It never really changes, so you know what you'll be getting.
People: The people that frequent Kezar are generally big sports fans. So, you'll get your courteous and nice people, but you'll also get your loud, obnoxious sports fan as well. It depends on what the main event being played at the time is. It's never really bad though, even with the more obnoxious types during NFL games.
Service: I've never had a problem with service here. When they're packed for big events it can be a little slow, but that's to be expected anywhere. Overall they do what they can to get your food and drink to you as fast as possible. They also accommodate you as far as watching your game. If a big event is playing and you want to watch something else, they'll try to find you a TV off in the corner to make you happy. They're very friendly and help out as...

*EDIT 9/17/19 RE: Responding to owners comment on my post...
Cyril,
I was hungry for wings tonight, so therefore, I thought I would take you up on your offer of "service that is just as fantastic as our wings".
So, I arrived tonight to the bar at 9:30pm to grab a pint and some food. Unfortunately, the kitchen was closed. So, I guess I'll have to come back and hope I make it there before the kitchens closes next time to take you up on that offer. In the past, I have arrived much closer to 10pm (which I had been told in the past was the time the kitchen closes) and have been able to order food. But, I guess when the kitchen actually closes solely depends on how busy it is and not on any posted or stated time of closure.
Which leads me to stand by my opinions from my first post in which I stated that the service is "mediocre". Because, If I knew that no matter what night of the week I chose to stop in and as long as it was within a certain few minutes of 10 PM (or whatever the stated hour of closure is), I could be assured to get an order in, I would not feel so strongly...
