I usually never leave reviews, but my experience at Fiery Chickz was so bad that I felt I had to.
The place looks run-down, and I waited around 5 minutes before anyone even came to the counter. I had seen online that they offered a 20% student discount, so I brought my student ID. The cashier had no idea what I was talking about, and instead of helping me, she somehow increased her own tip on my order. I gave up and paid full price: $17 (without tip) for the mac and cheese with chicken and fries.
I even met two other students there who tried to use the same discount, and none of us could get it because the staff clearly had no clue.
When the food finally came, it was even more disappointing. The āchickenā was mostly just fried skin with hardly any actual meat. The mac and cheese tasted fake and plasticky, like the cheapest box mix you could buy. The fries were just plain frozen fries with nothing special. It was so bad that all three of us ended up throwing most of our meals in the garbage.
We all agreed it was one of the worst food experiences weāve had, and none of us will ever be back. I only came because I saw the owner promoting the place on Instagram, but honestly, he should focus less on posting and more on fixing the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis out of the way location has some of the best chicken in San Jose. The quality of the meat it very high, and the spice is a very pleasant mix of flavor and hot. If you ask for it mild, you actually get a mild seasoning, and if you ask for it hot, it can get as spicy as you like it.
They are a bit on the slow side, but that's because the chicken is cooked fresh. It comes out piping hot and juicy. It is definitely worth the wait. The slaw on the sliders is decent and the sauce balances the spicy seasoning well. The fries are OK, because they are there to hold up that magnificent chicken.
Not many choices on the menu, and every choice provides a full meal. The tenders are not those measly sad pieces of meat you find at other restaurants, here they'll fill you up. The sliders are a bit larger, and make for a good sandwich or fork & knife. If you need to get some chicken for someone who's not quite as hungry, the tender on the side is a good addition.
I hesitate to write such a good review because right now it feels like our secret, but I want to see them succeed and stay in business for years to come: so please give them a try. It's a million times better than you'd expect...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDo you ever eat food so bad it makes you ANGRY? McDonald's is better than this. Daves Hot Chicken is 100x better and this is trying to be a knock-off of it.
FOOD - the fries are not even warm... they taste like they were made yesterday and reheated for 30 seconds and served today. Even with the sauce and ketchup they somehow have 0 flavor. The chicken? This is some of the WORST chicken I have ever had. I ordered the "HOT HOT (Perfect Heat)" there is NO HEAT in this... despite all the red coloring it has no flavor. The chicken itself is so hard to chew! It makes me want to choke. One of the reviews says it is boiled with no seasoning then fried. This is definitely true as it the CHICKEN HAS NO FLAVOR and is weirdly dry as hell at the same time as having greasiness.
I thought I ordered the Combo #1 but I got the sliders... I sure hope they didn't charge me the higher amount.. I didn't get a receipt emailed as I usually do from the kiosk stands they have.
I had a bad feeling about this place right when I walked in, it smelled stale and like it wasn't cleaned regularly. The lady working already looked tired and not very friendly. I hope this place gets replaced by an actual Dave's...
