Came to Huckleberry's for breakfast. We were seated quickly and asked for our drink orders shortly after we were seated. The staff was very nice and made suggestions for the menu. Overall, I would say that based on our first experience, I'm not sure I would go back. Only because of the lack of flavor in the food. It was fresh, and it looked decent with the presentation, but it just missed the mark a bit with seasoning. We started with the Beignet's. They are very large and light. Everyone liked the texture, and the taste wasn't too sweet. The fruit sauces were also delicious: huckleberry, strawberry, and peach. The fried green tomatoes were very crispy and clean tasting. They reminded me of fried pickles or fried zucchini. I had the chicken and waffles, and the tenders were moist but nothing special. The waffles had a good texture and flavor, and I don't actually think they need that many pieces. I had scrambled eggs with mushrooms added. They were cooked well and not dry. I just wish the breading on the tenders was spicy or at least seasoned well. I used the hot sauce at the table, but it didn't have any heat. The rest of the table liked their food but they just weren't wowed by it. I expected more with the seasoning and hoped for flavor bombs, but we just didn't get it. We appreciated the staff and the relatively quickly served food. The decor is cute as well. I think most people would be happy with...
Read moreMet some friends for a birthday lunch on Sunday… Food was good, service by Daniela was great… but I brought in a water bottle and realized I left it on the table, returned to the restaurant 7 minutes later and asked about my water bottle, and was told someone from my church saw me and would take it and give it to me! Huh?? I don’t go to church and is it me or does it sound like a strange story?? I returned to the restaurant to speak with the manager on Monday to inquire about my water bottle, after explaining the story that I was told, which doesn’t make any sense, my intuition tells me an employee took my water bottle, and most likely the person who told the strange story!! This manager never apologized for the unfortunate situation and sarcastically said “what do you want me to do”? Check the security tapes? I replied “ maybe you should” He told me to write down my phone number and if they find it, he will call me!! Well that’s not going to happen because according to the employee a friend from church took it!! Will never have another meal there just because of the unprofessional behavior of the manager and the strange story!! My advice don’t forget anything, you won’t get it back!! Do better Huckleberry’s hire professional managers who show some compassion for an unfortunate situation that occurred in your...
Read moreI love this spot! It was my first time at Huckleberries, and did not know what to expect. I absolutely love the southern Bayou theme and the entire place is perfectly dim, super clean, and very cozy. I love that the booths are private (meaning you don’t hear/see the people in the booths next to you) and that allows you to speak quietly if you prefer.
The food is pretty good, nothing crazy. Just reliable, and expected. I got a California Benedict, and my mom got 2 eggs, hash browns, bacon, and toast. I also got a Bloody Mary, and Beignets after! Everything was solid, and about average.
What I loved most about this place was the vibes. It felt very cozy, the staff was very friendly, and not pushy. The service was quick, and I just really liked the paintings on the wall, the alligator in the cage on the ceiling, the New Orleans Bayou look and the dimmer lighting all which hit all the right spots for me.
The parking is easy to find, and since that parking lot has been kind of dead for ages now (long time local resident) This place deserves to be busier than it is. I came from Jack Holders which is constantly packed because the power was out, and saw this on Google and gave it a shot! So glad I did.
