I've been meaning to write this review for Pearl River Restaurant and Lounge for quite some time now. This place holds a special spot in our family's history, as we used to dine here when I was growing up. Today, it's run by one of the sons of the original owners, it’s a lovely and friendly family.
When it comes to the food, there are certain dishes that truly make the experience worthwhile for me: their war wonton soup, salt and pepper chicken wings, XO beef, chicken lettuce wraps, and if you're in the mood for noodles, their combo skinny noodles is great. These are the dishes we consistently order because they're consistently done right. Read moreMy husband and I have been loyal customers of Pearl River for many years, hoping each visit would bring a better experience. Unfortunately, after our recent visit, I can confidently say that we will never return. If I could give them a negative star rating, I absolutely would.

As for my favorite dish, the lemon chicken, I was equally let down. It used to be the best in South San Jose, but this time, the chicken was tough, and the sauce tasted like something out of a TV dinner. I had high hopes for a delicious meal, and I left feeling incredibly disappointed.
I truly wanted to love Pearl River again, but this last experience has made it clear that we will be looking elsewhere for our Chinese food cravings. It's a shame to see a once-great restaurant fall so far short of...
