2398 Evergreen Pl, San Jose, CA 95122. My home. No I didn’t just dox myself, it’s my second home. Home of the famous chicken tenders, Raising Canes. I chose Raising Canes as my passion because truly not a day goes by where I don’t think about those beautiful, soft, juicy chicken tenders. The date was April 25th, 2025 when I first laid my eyes on this establishment. It was my friend’s birthday and he suggested that for lunch we make a trip to the newly opened Raising Canes in our town. We made the drive over and I was greeted with a small menu. I’m next in line now and the employee says “hey hey hey, want some chicken today” to which I respond “yes.” Following this was an awkward silence, then a chuckle by the employee. At this moment, I knew I was home. I ordered a box combo with a lemonade. It came with 4 chicken tenders, a side of crinkle cut fries, one piece toast, and coleslaw. Boy oh boy was keeping the coleslaw a mistake. I soon learned from my friend that you can substitute the coleslaw for extra fries, an extra toast, or an extra sauce. To this day, I have never forgotten to make that substitution. Now you might wonder what I do nowadays, the answer is: it depends on the mood. We leave the drive-thru, find a parking spot, put the car in park, and open the bag. I open my box combo and take my first bite of the chicken which was dipped in the sauce. It’s difficult to describe my feelings at that exact moment so I’ll describe similar scenarios. It was like opening the first gift on Christmas morning. It was like a warm hug from a loved one. It was everything I’ve ever wanted and needed. I looked up at my friend, tears in my eyes, and thanked him for introducing me to my new passion. From this day on, I have always suggested Raising Canes when somebody asks where we should eat. My idea is often shot down since I request it so much, but I will always remain loyal. I’ve even tried recreating it myself to save some money. I scoured through TikTok to find the exact recipes for each item. I bought tenderloins, potatoes, and bread from the store. I matched the seasonings and deep fried my chicken. I cut my potatoes into slices, and cut them again to form crinkle cut shapes. I buttered and toasted my bread. I also recreated the sauce to a T. I even purchased a takeout box to give the same effect. But when I took my first bite, I was hit with disappointment. It wasn’t Cane’s quality. I didn’t put in the tender, love, and care that those Cane’s employees provide. Even worse, not only did I end up spending an unnecessary amount of time cooking everything, I ended up spending more than it costs for a box combo. Now I learned that Canes is more time and cost efficient than making it myself.
In the future regarding me and Raising Canes, I will have those chicken tenders catered at all my birthday parties. And on my deathbed, I will choose that beautiful Caniac combo with...
Read moreCame in pretty late after a concert in Oakland and it was packed, never been to Canes but one of my partner's friends loves their chicken and not much else was open so we gave it a try.
Honestly food was good, it's just chicken fingers but I see why people obsess over the sauce, I like it more than what you would get at Chick-fil-A, it's got a lot more flavor and tang.
However, we got there right before a party of 6-7 dudes and I had heard about potential service issues. Ten minutes goes by and I'm fine but then around Fifteen I noticed the party after us had gotten almost all their food.
I really don't like to raise my voice or complain but I figured our POS ticket probably got cleared and so I waited in line to ask. To this location's credit, their was an awesome employee who was already talking to the kitchen before I even said anything and she gave us both double sides (forgetting her name rn but I'm 90% sure it begins with a "C").
Still took 25-30 min from ordering to get two orders of chicken fingers w/o any hot sides, which is why the service is a 2, atmosphere was fine, a bit loud but it was Saturday so it's expected. Just wish I could remember that employee's name to give her some props. Otherwise I feel like we would have been in there another five or ten minutes.
Lesson learned, you need to speak up when you have been waiting and an entire party and then some gets their food first. Toast is overrated, it's basically just garlic bread, not very thick, but tasty nonetheless. Slaw was ass, not inedible just super plain and nothing going for it, so I would avoid that when going again, didn't get to try the fries but I've heard they are good.
It's definitely a "you get what you pay for" situation, it's a small menu like In N Out and had we gotten our food in under 10 min I would have no problem giving this Canes a 3-4, but again, were it not for this awesome employee being on the ball it would have been a lot worse.
Definitely want to try another location that's out of the Bay and see if the food/service...

After what felt like a fried chicken drought in the South Bay, Raising Cane’s has officially landed in San Jose—conveniently parked next to Costco for the perfect post-bulk-buying binge. The line? Surprisingly tolerable thanks to two enthusiastic sales reps taking your order tandem-style outside like a fast-food pit crew.
Now, don’t stress about decision fatigue—Cane’s keeps it simple with just four menu items. My partner and I went for the Box Combo: 4 chicken tenders, fries, coleslaw, a drink, and one legendary Cane’s sauce and Texas toast. Seemed like enough to curb our hunger… emphasis on seemed.
Turns out, this box was heavier on the sides than substance. The tenders? On the modest side—think more “chicken strip starter pack” than “meal-worthy main.” Flavor-wise, they were juicy, lightly dredged, and thankfully not too salty—but they lacked any real seasoning punch. You know it’s bad when you’re rationing your single Cane’s sauce like it’s the last packet of hot sauce in the apocalypse (and yes, they charge $0.69 for extra… they know).
Also, RIP to our soda—we got more ice than liquid. If we wanted a frozen lake with a splash of Coke, we’d go to Tahoe.
If Jollibee is the flamboyant, overachieving cousin who throws flavor parties and shows up in sequins, then Raising Cane’s is the quiet intern with good intentions and beige seasoning. You’re rooting for them, but they might not be ready to...
