Prices are extraordinarily high plus they charge an 18% service fee automatically, for just waitering your table. They even charge for water which is very surprising. Only place in San Juan that does that. $150 for 3 people. Definitely better places that are cheaper and better quality food.
Soupa del mar was ok. Nothing to rave about but ok 4/10. The goat with rice and beans was the best my party had ordered 6.5/10. My son ordered the NY steak which they didn't know there were different ways to cook the steak (rare, medium, etc) steak had no seasoning and cooked in a bunch of oil. Very flavorless. 1/10. And then had the shrimp soup which the shrimps weren't even peeled. Again flavor was ok but nothing write home about. 4/10.
They didn't refill drinks until we were done eating. At the very least if we are going to get charged a service fee at least do a good job at filling up the drinks. Service 2/10
Lastly atmosphere: they try really hard to make it look like a fancy restaurant but nothing really special and not really anything different than other American styled restaurants in San Juan.
For tourists, if your looking for some authentic Puerto Rican food, don't bother with this place. Alot of more reasonable places to visit...
Read moreThree of us thoroughly enjoyed our first rate dining experience here several nights ago. As others have noted, don’t judge the restaurant by the outside. The food and service were first class all the way.
The restaurant has a full bar. We started with wine ($13/glass - reasonable here) and a cocktail. Fresh warm slices of garlic bread were served. We shared an order of fried calamari which was one of the best versions I have ever eaten.
For the main course we ordered tuna crusted with sesame seeds, served with a light dipping sauce; a scallop and shrimp seafood dish with a nice, light sauce; and red snapper with the house sauce (you can choose 4-6 sauces). We all opted for vegetables as our included side, but there were 4-5 choices.
Service was impeccable from start to finish. Noise level was reasonable. Soft music played in the background throughout our meal. Although we saw a few people dressed very casually at one table, I would say smart casual dress goes with the ambience (collared polo shirt for men, etc).
There is free valet parking. The Parker does not give you a tag when he takes your key, which startled us. But it looks like all the guests’ cars are parked right out front -...
Read moreWe wanted a fish dinner on our last night in San Juan. The reviews here looked great and it was. We were starving we got there and do right into her food so there are no pictures. I would go back again in a second. The only issue we had was booking the reservation. We booked through OpenTable. I would recommend that you book directly with the restaurant if you book a reservation. We had a reservation for 7 p.m. on Sunday. When we arrived at 6:48 pm the hostess advised us that they could not accept reservations at 7 booked through open table, because the restaurant closed at 8 and the restaurant kitchen closed in a few minutes, so they could not accommodate seatings at 7 p.m. They did get us in immediately but only if we ordered in time to get our order into the kitchen before 7:00. We did. We both had red snapper and it was delicious. I completely recommend this restaurant. Make sure you know the hours before...
