I’ve been in an insurmountable amount of debt after throwing me and my wife's entire life savings into SquidTokenCryptoCoin.
Total losses were over three million dollars. We were forced to get a second mortgage on the house and can no longer pay the bills.
Our hopes of ever retiring are now smashed. We will be working until we die.
The only thing that can console me now, is the warm embrace of sustenance entering my body. Thus, I decided to try Old Slo BBQ.
The moment I walked in the door I knew I had staggered into something magnificent. The smell was unlike anything I had ever experienced before.
The establishment was clean, and omitted a kind, positive, energy. I was greeted by a very handsome employee. He looked around 17 years old, with short blond hair. I forget his exact name but I believe it started with a J.
I have to commend Old Slo BBQ for how excellent their team members are. It’s obvious that Old Slo BBQ only hires based on honesty, integrity, and willingness to serve. I had never received better service in my life.
After sitting down and trying my tri-tip sandwich, all of my woes went away. For those ten minutes that I spent enjoying every single morsel of that sandwich, I felt no stress or anguish. I was at peace.
I have tried many substances and pharmaceuticals to make my pain go away, but none come close to the heaven on earth that is the food from Old Slo BQQ.
Unfortunately, I finished my sandwich, and even though I could have eaten a hundred more, my empty wallet would not have allowed me to.
Even though I am back to my dull, empty life, every time my mind wanders, I think of my encounter with Old Slo BQQ. If I am ever able to attain financial stability again, I will be frequenting this venue on a...
Read moreI have to say - this was one strange dining experience. You walk in and are greeted by a huge taxidermy bison and then into the main dining area where there are lots more "stuffed animals" - If that's not your thing - avoid this place at all costs.
We were seated and before my dining companion returned from the restroom the waitress arrived with a huge cast iron pot of beef soup/stew and a bowl of beans. (My vegetarian dining companion was bummed that there wasn't just a little something for him as even the beans had meat in them). The beef soup/stew was pretty yummy and I could have filled up on that and on the salad that came with my dinner alone. I did order the Strip Steak combo meal and the steak was VERY VERY good - great char and smokey flavor, perfectly cooked medium rare + which is why I am giving this place 4 starts - a great steak is a good thing to get you on your drive to LA. The dinner came with some veggies and skillet fried potatoes and onions. My veggie friend had a dinner salad, baked potato and this huge cast iron skillet of nicely cooked veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, carrots and yellow squash) - no way one person could eat all those veggies in one sitting. Besides the steak - the best part of this meal was the amazing hash I made for breakfast the next day with the left over potatoes, veggies and steak topped with poached eggs. Oh - and the dinner comes with a root-beer float (or aperitif) - no other choices - go figure - told you this place was strange. I honestly kinda wish I could've just had the salad, totally yummy perfectly cooked steak and a baked potato and skipped all the other...
Read moreHonestly, this is more of a PSA then a review - Old Slo is not just one of the most reliably tasty restaurants downtown it is also an EXCELLENT spot to host a party!
We were on the hunt to find a spot to host our group of about 80 for our Wedding Welcome party in downtown SLO and was met with some exorbitantly expensive quotes and honestly impressionable communication. So we had the idea to reach out to Old Slo and I'm so glad we did.
It had everything we were looking for - downtown location, fresh food, private area, easy beer/wine hosting, and no weirdly inflated prices (hello wedding tax). The back room of Old Slo can be rented out and can comfortably fit 60 people (we obviously spilled over to the outside and the front room, worked great). That room is also beautiful, the big windows looking onto the creek, couches and plenty of seating. The staff was excellent, they were incredibly gracious and staggered the catering trays so it was always warm.
The food was SO good. It worked out really well for our guests with dietary restrictions too! Even if you don't need to rent the space, I still absolutely recommend them for catering.
Kevin (Catering Manager) was the MVP. His communication was great and perfectly estimated the food quantities. He is also just a really nice person that was lovely to work with.
10000/10 recommend as an event space!...
