Tigerlily Salon — Local services in San Luis Obispo

I went in about 5 months ago to get a balayage I gave Morgan the picture that I wanted with very dramatic tips having high contrast to the root of my hair. When I got home after many hours in the salon I got home to my boyfriend and family with their thoughts being that my hair looked as though there was no real difference. I messaged Morgan and she said okay come back in and we could work something out. When I went back in she was very unprofessional, seemed irritated, disrespectful and upset that she had to bother to make me feel better after having paid hundreds of dollars. She continued to tell me that I showed her the picture but told her I wanted a balayage but what I showed her was a heavy balayage with a specific technique involved, I felt like she was talking down to me and was mad at the fact that I (someone who doesn't work in the hair industry) didn't know the proper terminology for her to "do the right job"? She made me feel uncomfortable and had an attitude the entire time she was trying to do my hair I asked her not to tone my hair this time around because I thought the last time she did it created a tone that blended the highlights to my natural color too much she was doubtful but eventually agreed. After already having given her a 25% tip the first time, when I handed her the $10 (which she counted in front of me) for the time she spent fixing my hair she gave me a dirty look and had again a bad attitude as if she couldn't believe I only handed her $10. Overall I would never go back to that salon based off of the way I was treated, I had gone there once before and had a great experience. It's beautiful and most people are kind that work at the salon. But overall my hair texture felt okay and looked okay afterwards, but she honestly made me feel bad about myself and now i'm looking for other salons to go to for highlights. I feel like the stylist should care above all about how the customer feels surrounding the work they have done for said customer and do anything to make that individual the happiest upon completion of their work. It's taken me months to muster up the courage to write this but I can't let my conscious weigh down on me and I just don't want any other girl to walk in there and get treated like that for...

I’m not usually the one to leave reviews, but if I could leave negative stars I would. This had to be one of the most inhumane and shocking experiences I’ve been through. I went in to get my roots done, and it was obvious that the girl who was assigned to my hair didn’t have much experience, and that’s completely understandable, but to blame me for her lack of experience and to get me kicked out is just another level of disrespect, unprofessionalism and outright inhumane. I told her I could give her the color formula to ease her nerves and she was still hesitant to do my hair. While waiting, she left for a few minutes and came back and told me she decided not to do my hair (??), and that she couldn’t. I got quite shocked and asked her why she took me in if she couldn’t do my hair, as I look to the side the front desk girl, I believe her name is Addy, told me that I needed to leave and that I was “scaring” her worker. She then threatened to have the cops called while I was sitting in my chair doing absolutely nothing but being confused and still questioning them as to why they even accepted the reservation. As I was leaving, the cherry on top was the front desk girl smiling telling me “bye, see you!” in a mocking tone, like nothing had just happened. I left in tears, shaking and in shock, please do not come here, they preach inclusivity and positivity but they are nothing but grown bullies, I know I’m not the only person that has experienced this, as I’ve heard multiple horror stories. This is a long overdue review! I had to share my wonderful, flawless experience with the ladies from Tiger Lily Salon. They provided hair and makeup for my summer 2022 wedding. Every bride knows how stressful the big day is, but they made it so smooth and seamless!

I first spoke with Addy Cota (salon coordinator) a few months prior, and she couldn't have been nicer. We emailed back and forth several times, and she was always very prompt, professional and informative. I eventually arranged to have a hair consultation with Reanna Lunker and a make-up consultation with Heather McDermott. I brought a few photos and they both perfectly captured my vision. I was so impressed with their skills! They were also so sweet.

On the big day, Addy, Heather and Reanna arrived early and finished all the hair and makeup with time to spare. My bridal party loved them! We had such a great time getting ready that I completely forgot about my nerves. The pricing was very reasonable as well. When I got the photos back from my wedding photographer, I was blown away! Everyone looked beautiful and flawless. Honestly, Tiger Lily couldn't have done a better job. Thank you so much for making my wedding day perfect!!
