I used to go to this Chipotle, but today was the straw that broke the camel’s back. For starters, I noticed that when I order online the portions are smaller. WTF. You go to Chipotle for big servings at decent price. I asked the manger what’s up with that and she said, “Online orders are made in the back. So we are able to measure our portions. The line orders are bigger because the customer is right there in front of the worker, so the worker feels the need to give them more. Great customer service huh?” So, the early bird that catches the worm by ordering online to beat the crowds gets screwed. It’s much like those who try and do right thing and think ahead get punished. Since learning this lesson I have succumbed to the manager’s ideology and went in to order today.
Being a Sunday I expected the line to be line to be long, but I didn’t expect a couple of things. There were two moms ordering for their families of 8, so 16 meals were being made. A smart manager would have taken their orders and made them in the back to keep the line moving. As I approached and met with the first line prep worker I realized it was the MANAGER! Yeah, THE MANAGER. I asked for a burrito bowl and she started to scoop my rice and the portion was decent. But as she put the serving spoon back in the tray I heard from the person in front of me, “My chicken portion looks small, a lot smaller than usual.” The second line prep person had nothing to say because he could feel the Darth Vader choke grip from the manager who looked at him with a “don’t you dare do it.” Very controlling if you ask me. Also, they were out of chicken and no one was on the grill getting more chicken ready. Two huge fails! I wanted chicken too, but with the moms’ orders for 16 and me needing to get to work, I settled for steak. Not a bad choice, but I do enjoy the chicken a bit more. As I passed down the line getting all my condiments and yummy goodness every employee seemed lost in the detail of their job. No one knew who a burnt quesadilla belonged to or who was supposed to making more chicken on the grill. I hate to burn this manager, but she needs some new organizational skills and stronger ability to assess her talent pool. (If you’re reading wondering who the hell I am to say such things, I have managed and supervised employees in teams ranging from 15-40 members for the past 13 years. Her abilities were painful to watch based upon my experiences). Finally, at the end of it all, they had no guacamole. However, their excuse was reasonable saying the cold snap last week hurt Chipotle crops. That’s believable.
All in all, I am glad a new Chipotle is opening up in San Mateo. I still have faith in Chipotle and that my gullet with always be filled with goodness from them, but as of today, I never going back to the Chipotle in Foster City. They lost my business. Mediocre service and unfair portions for ordering online make me upset, so I am taking my dead presidential flash...
Read moreI came to this chipotle with my wife and was greeted by a younger staff member. My wife wanted to order a sofritas bowl with extra scoops of rice to start. When my wife asked for the extra scoops the staff member said “oh we will have to charge you extra”. I responded back “then I would like to speak to a manager.” The manager was also not accommodating and made excuses for having to charge extra, and then went further to say that the extra rice wouldn’t fit in the bowl. As a customer I felt totally hopeless that I wasn’t going to be able to order what I wanted so I walked out of the store and didn’t order anything. The staff member and manager were so unprofessional and did not satisfy the customers needs, instead I walked out without any food because I will not be supporting a place that treats its customers like this. Restaurants are there to SERVE the customer, not find ways how they can charge more for certain items. It’s rice for goodness sake! The cheapest food on the planet. In nowhere on your menu does it say an extra charge for rice. You have extra charges for guacamole or meat, but trying to charge extra for rice is robbery to the customer. This put an awful taste in my mouth and these staff members should be ashamed of themselves for the way they treated a loyal customer. I will not be loyal to chipotle anymore and will take my business...
Read moreThis order was one of the worst I've had in a long time. It had nothing to do with the delivery because that was fast and convenient but the food quality was disgusting. 1st of all the meat was dry and tasteless . The portion size was tiny (half of what I order from mom and pop store or delicious Pancho Villa just the entire food itself was tasteless. I normally get burritos from a mom &pop store or Panchovilla (my fav) but decided 2 give this a try...BIG MISTAKE!! My burrito consisted of basically 90% of rice.We ALL actually had 2- 3 bites of the food and then gave it 2 the dog's. At least tbey liked it. So me spending $65 for garbage didn't completely go to waste!! The tacos were ridiculous dry and the amount of their dry meat wouldn't fill up my cat. The quesadilla my son didnt finish because it was horrible tasting and dry meat almost made him choke. The commercials they have for this place are ridiculous it's NOTHING like you see in the commercials. The quality of this food is so disappointing I will never buy anything from here again. If I could give it 0...
