This restaurant is WAY too expensive. Unlike at other poke bars, their counter servers weigh proteins on the scale and even go so far as transferring pieces of fish from your plate back into the tray where they came from! SMH

On top of that, their sauces are terribly salty and not particularly tasty or flavorful. In addition, they don't offer furikake, sesame seeds, macadamia nuts or any other fabulous shakers that are readily available at other poke bars. Lastly, their crab salad is considered a protein choice where as, in other locations, it's generally included as a free option.

All told, I'd spend an obscene $24 dollars on a regular bowl containing 5 ounces of fish along with a small bag of taro chips, where as I would normally spend well under $20 for a similar bowl at other locations like Pokeatery on B St.

When I left the establishment, I was scratching my head trying to figure out why people online would rate it higher than 3 stars and I believe it has something to do with their location which tends to attract people who don't have time to head to downtown San Mateo to eat their lunch. I happened to be hungry and decided to give them a try, but don't think that I'll be back any time in the...

The best poke this side of the Bay! Easily! Most of the ingredients are made in the kitchen from scratch (like the purple pickled onions or daikon), and the proteins are fresh each and every time!! I've eaten here no less than once a week, for over 2 years now, and have never had a bad experience. Other perks: *They have oysters on the shell that are also incredibly fresh and super flavorful. *They have Happy Hour- discounted wine, beer, and oysters- Monday through Friday, 3-6pm. (I believe those are the hours. Call to check first). *They're a part of the Five Stars app program, so each time you order at the restaurant and use your Five Stars at check out, you earn points. The points add up quickly! Some of the rewards are free food items in the restaurant or a free poke bowl. You also get bonus points and discounts on Five Star with Truffle Butter, and occasionally I'll go in there and have 15% off applied to my bowl, not expecting it. Anyway, the staff here are absolutely lovely and hard working and the food is exceptional. This is by far one of my favorite restaurants and one that I would recommend first to anyone looking for a...

This is a GREAT place to go for sushi! I've never been brave enough to try it until my fiancé took me here during their Grand Opening, and since he knew the owner, I felt obligated, in a way, to at least give this a shot. No regrets! We told the owner that it's my first try ever and he began asking me questions. From my answers he personalized a Poke bowl designed for my liking, and it was amazing!!! I totally trust and respect this man and his fresh food, so this is the ONLY place I've ever eaten sushi, and it's always top notch! Not to mention all of the other great things they have to offer, such as the Sake or the big TV to catch a game while you enjoy your meal with family or friends. And did I mention that this place is owned and operated with a small staff of his close family members? All the love just flows through from back to front of the place. It can't get much...

I am rating this restaurant just on the food, since I tried the poke bowls when a friend ordered delivery. While the sloppily smeared, and thinned out, wasabi made the poke bowl unappetizing, I was more disappointed to see that there was more rice than everything else combined on the top. The rice wasn't even well cooked. Although the fish was decently fresh, the amount was proportionally much less than the other toppings in the bowl. This is the first poke place I have visited that gives so little fish. The sauce was lacking in taste. I finished the bowl so just not to waste food. To sum things up, one try and that was enough.

Great food, nice atmosphere, parking wasn’t all that bad, prices were just right. Come and grab beer that’s on tap, and enjoy your bowl. Took my lil family and they loved it, my wife’s only complaint was about the sauce, she picked the truffle one and it had a mayo taste to it which she doesn’t like mayo at all so that could be why. The tarp chips are good, some were slightly a little to oily for me but my son took those anyways. They have cucumber flavored water and clean high chairs.

It's ok. Reg bowls are a great size but they do not fill it up all the way considering how tall the lid is. Even worse, half of it is the base rice/noodle. One of the bowls I asked for two of the same fish and it looked like barely one portion. They really don't give enough fish and you get full mostly from the base. Overall not comparable to other poke places.
