Ron's Hamburgers & Chili — Restaurant in Sand Springs

We have eaten at Ron's before and were very pleased. But this was not one of our better experiences. My wife and I stopped in about 3 in the afternoon. The place was not busy but there were probably six other people there. Let's start with the atmosphere. After we seated ourselves we noticed the lack of light in the room. Not as dark as some fancy candle lit restaurants but still not brightly lit. We waited a good four minutes before a waitress came to our table. We both ordered water and the waitress was prompt in bringing our drinks and we ordered. My wife enjoys the popcorn chicken and homemade fries. I decided on the double cheeseburger with everything and chili cheese fries. As we waited my wife commented that there seemed to be an all teenager staff. We never saw a single adult worker the entire time we were there. There seemed to be a lot of cutting up in the kitchen between the cooks and the waitresses. Our food arrived soon and my wife noted that her chicken was not even warm. I tasted one and it was almost like these had been cooked an hour earlier. They were also extremely dry. As for the fries they were hot and fresh as was the hamburger. As for service we never saw our waitress again until she came by to ask if I was ready for the check. No refills on the water, no asking of the meal was okay, nothing. When she brought the check my wife advised that her chicken was cold when she served it. The only response was "Oh really, I will let the kitchen know." That was it. We left vowing...

I would love to give 5 stars all around because for months we’ve been having dinner here almost every Friday evening and have never had a complaint…until we did. The food is always delicious! The service has always been superb! The atmosphere has always been perfect atmosphere for a burger joint. Until it wasn’t. When the recent assasination attempt was happening, the tv was on and the young waitress said to my husband, “it’s to bad they missed”. My husband was appalled and asked, “what did you just say?” She repeated her statement. Total lack of compassion for a human life. Her opinion is just that, her opinion but not acceptable to say to a customer in a crowded restaurant. As my husband left he told another staff member that he would not be back because of what the young lady said, to which she replied, “we need to change the channel before something gets started”. This was our first time visiting, and we went based on multiple recommendations from friends and family---but it was just not a good experience for us.

The french fries looked good but ended up being completely soggy. The fried pickles tasted like bland flour and salt....extremely salty....just hamburger dills....dipped in salted flour...the double cheeseburgers had almost zero flavor. My daughter didn't even finish her bacon cheese fries because no one liked how soggy the fries were.

The only positive exception was my son's baon cheeseburger, which turned out great.

This was a 1-star experience, but the staff was very nice and my son got a good item, so bumping it up for that.
