China Kitchen — Restaurant in Sandpoint

Want Chinese-American food in Sandpoint? This is it, unless of course you think Safeway's deli has good wok fare. It is primarily take out, being in a gas station, yet there are a few little tables should you wish to sit with the folks patiently waiting for their orders to take home. It's a rather unfriendly couple running it, which kinda freeked the Wifey out, but I had to explain to her they were busy as h*, and didn't have time to pull out pics of their grandkids to show. Regardless, the food was outstanding. I'm so darned tired of asian joints putting too much sugar in their dishes for us gringos, but these guys thankfully did not over do it. My Twice-Cooked Pork was perfect; spicy, and had quite a generous amount of protein. I did not get a pic of it because I was hammered at the campsite by the time I was hungry, sorry. Star of the show was Wifey's Wor Wonton Soup. Broth was excellent, and not too salty. Tons of protein in it, as well. Keep in mind they get creamed at peak lunch/dinner times should you be visiting the area and craving...

This place has the worst customer service I have ever seen anywhere in Sandpoint. We called in for an order to go on our way home from working all day, the owner lady said she refused to take my order unless we came in and waited that we were not from Sandpoint. I told her we live here and where we lived and she said it don’t matter I will not make your food until you get here. I offered to pay for the food over the phone so we could have it ready and she refused again. I asked if she was the owner and she said what does it matter to you if I am the owner? Yes I am and I said I will not make your food if you want it come in and order. Why even answer the phone if your not going to let people place the order ahead of time....

Truly an awful experience. They have a sign up saying “to go only,” but the bar stools and counter are available for seating. I sat down and waited for my food, and I had my 2 year old and 1 year old with me. When I got my food, I sat back down at the bar stool, and the lady said “you cannot eat here!” I told her I had two babies with me and would like to eat inside. She said “there’s a picnic table outside.” I said “it’s very cold outside, and too cold for my kids to eat out there.” She said “THAT’S LIFE” and turned away. Very rude and unfriendly service.
