So if it's been a while since you've visited, I highly suggest you come again. They have moved to a new but nearby location in a historic building! There is tons of open space, great lighting, and pleasant atmosphere. I can't wait until warmer weather to take advantage of their nice outside seating area.
Odd to note but I found the women's restroom thoughtfully planned and clever use of spaces. There's a room for baby care that used to be the old vault, another room that's a fully self-contained bathroom for those who are a bit public shy, and stalls where you can actually walk into and not touch the toilet behind you as you close the door or huge gaps to peer through! Refreshing! The only complaint is no hot water to wash your hands. I did let it run for a while, even tried switching valves in case it was reversed, no luck.
We have been here a couple of times now and it has been steady if not busy the entire time...unlike the old location, there is room to wait if need be. Service is a bit on the slow side but I personally don't like the feeling of being rushed to order, eat, and pay. Have a craft beer while deciding and let your wait staff get caught up so they can focus on you when the time comes.
Most everything I've seen come out of this kitchen looks delicious! The only disappointing thing I've had personally was the skinny or shoestring fries that accompany the burgers. There were so many little tid bits and ends it made them frusterating to eat. Also...they are aweful warmed up in an air fryer the next day, unless you liked those crunchy shoestring potatoes that came in a can (who remembers those?). I suggest paying the upgrade for the waffle cut gorgonzola fries (yummy!) or try the onion rings. The salads and veggies used for sides actually have flavor and are so fresh tasting.
We ordered Banh Mi rice bowl and the Western Stack Burger. We received the correct burger but in place of the Banh Mi, received the Yellow Chicken Curry. No big deal as it was very good and we were not dissatisfied. I also had a whole conversation with our server about substituting the cole slaw with the street corn salad that comes with the burger and instructed to please put the onion rings that come on the burger off to the side as I can never seem to take that big of a bite. Instead, I got a side of onion rings, on top of the side of onion rings we already ordered. They made it right by just giving me the side of corn salad and we ended up with plenty of onion rings to take home. đ It does seem the kitchen staff/server staff need to tweak their communication system a bit more.
Overall, very pleased with the quality of food and selection. We will be excited to revisit when things get ironed out a bit more with the way things are run. These...
Read moreDisappointingâŚwe went to Mcduffs for dinner last night around 8pm. We knew they closed at 9 so we quickly looked at the menu and made our choices while waiting for a server. The place was busy, but not full. Most tables around us had already eaten. After almost 10 minutes I went to the front desk host and asked if we had a server as no one had come by yet. His response was âyeah, but theyâre all pretty busy, Iâll make sure someone knows youâre here.â He did and finally someone came to take our order. He was a nice enough kid, but did not know much detail about the drink menu. I asked what the rotating sauv blanc was/brand and he said âI donât know, Iâm 19 so I donât really know those things.â I asked him to please find out and weâd order as soon as he came back. Ordered a burger w/fries and friend ordered the curry rice bowl w/tofu instead of chicken. About 40 minutes later we received our meals. (Drinks were gone at this point and he/no one ever came back to see if weâd like another or anything else so I went to the bar and said can our server come by please weâd like another drink) A girl dropped off our meals and asked if weâd like anything else and I ordered a drink, she did not bring it. The burger came with wrong toppings and was tough and dry, the fries were inedible. Dehydrated and like shoe leather. When he came back to bring a side plate of correct burger toppings I told him the fries were really bad and I would not be eating. He did apologize and offer new fries, but after almost and hour there and already a very disappointing experience I said no thank you. I tried to order one more drink again from him this time and he brought the wrong drink. (I ended up having 1 drink total after hoping for a second several times)My friend ate the tofu and the spinach and left the rice portion of her meal as it was gummy and pasty. Maybe it was because it was the last hour, but the whole thing was bad from the start. I did ask for the manager at this point and let her know. She was kind enough to offer to comp my meal and give 1/2 off to my friend. Her tone and demeanor were completely unapologetic, sorry can be said many times, but doesnât mean much when itâs snarky and completely lacking of empathy. Iâd worked in customer service for 28 years and would be upset if my employees gave anyone this experience. I was NOT looking for a free meal! I really wanted a good meal as I donât eat out too often and was very looking forward to it. For reference, I ate there last fall and had the same meal and...
Read moreWe came to Mickduffs for a nice patio lunch. Fresh air, cold drinks, someone else doing the cooking, simple dreams. I got the beetroot salad. It was delicious. I enjoyed it so much I didnât notice my 4 year old and his little friend absolutely obliterating the planter boxes like they were on a demolition crew.
Within minutes, all the potting soil was artistically flung across the sidewalk. Just a full scale dirt explosion. I made them go ask for a broom and told them to clean it up, because I enjoy public parenting stunts that make me look like I have control over the situation.
Watching two preschoolers sweep dirt is like watching a motivational video on how not to clean. Ten minutes of chaos later, the worldâs kindest custodian came out with a leaf blower, smiled, and saved the day in 30 seconds. Iâve never wanted to hug a stranger more.
Our server, Cat, was a hero. She was cool, calm, and totally unbothered by the dirt hurricane happening nearby. Attentive, helpful, and somehow didnât immediately file a noise complaint against our table. She deserves a bonus, a nap, and probably a long leave of paid time off.
By the end of the meal, every other person on the patio had quietly vanished. My best friend and I were the last ones standing. Just me, my beet salad, laughs with the best of friends and the memory of my children turning Mickduffs into a backyard construction zone.
Would I come back? Absolutely. The foodâs solid, the staff are saints, and itâs clearly a judgment-free zone which, frankly, is the only kind of restaurant...
