Another Critic's Corner! Last night was another fun evening out with my friends. we decided to go to the Gateway Cafe for dinner and drinks. We started with appetizers... my favorite was the fried green tomatoes. ( presentation of the FGT's was outstanding). We also enjoyed French-fried onion rings, pork pot stickers an unusual combination of Ginger and fried cabbage)... and hot pepper cheese balls with just the right amount of kick to them to satisfy the need for heat and not take away from the creamy cheesy flavor. Ordering was a difficult decision, but I finally settled for the Gateway chicken. I was not disappointed. Again the presentation was delightful. And the grilled chicken was something I would order again. Our server was very efficient and friendly. One of our friends ordered steak salad and asked to have the stake reheated... there was no problem at all and when it came back to the table she was very pleased。 It was a very nice enjoyable evening. Service was great and food was terrific I would recommend 4 and 1/2 stars for this evening. Would I recommend this restaurant to you? Absolutely

I had an exceptional dining experience at Gateway Cafe. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the Philly cheese steak, which I can confidently say was the best I've ever had. The succulent slices of beef combined with perfectly melted cheese and sautéed onions created a flavor explosion that left me craving for more. The bread was fresh and added a satisfying crunch to every bite. To accompany this delicious dish, I had their homemade ranch dressing. Creamy, tangy, and incredibly flavorful, the ranch was the perfect dipping sauce not only for the cheese steak but also for the accompanying fries. The combination of flavors was absolutely divine. The ambiance at Gateway Cafe was cozy and inviting, providing a great backdrop for a delightful meal. The staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring that my dining experience was top-notch. If you're a fan of Philly cheese steak and crave exceptional flavors, Gateway Cafe is a must-visit. I can't wait to return for another round of their amazing dishes.

This is a lovely bar/restaurant!! The lighting is a bit dark but it’s brightened up by plug in lights and other festive decorations - all of which make this place feel super homey! The bartender and our waitress were SO friendly & very accommodating. Our waitress had a great sense of humor & was willing to talk to us, and she even took interest in our lives (on the surface level). Again, this just made it feel super homey. It’s on the side of the road and doesn’t look like much from the outside but their food & service says otherwise!!! Stop by for a yummy lunch or dinner… or a drink. Great beverage menu :) 10/10 would recommend to any travelers or locals!

The Gateway Cafe is an amazing place to eat in Dubois, PA. They were very busy for a Saturday at lunch time but we were very well taken care of. The atmosphere at first seems kind of confined but it works for their business and doesn't make you feel over crowded while sitting down at your table. The decor is very interesting and gives you something to look at for first time stopper byers. The server we had was very attentive and explained the favorites of people who come in on a regular basis. The menu has a lot to choose from but it wasn't too much. For how busy they were our food came out in a timely manner. The meals were beautifully plated. I had the rueban with the home made chips and it all melted in my mouth. My husband had the foot long fish sandwich and French fries that were perfectly fried and seasoned well. Then dessert definitely did not disappoint at all. The plating was beautiful and the raspberry cheese cake was so Devine. My husband had the peanut butter pies and added ice cream on and he said it was just like eating a peanut butter melt away. So if you are looking for a new place to eat while you are in town or are just a restaurant enthusiast you should definitely check out the...

Waited the allotted time before I even left to pick up the meals and once there to pick them up the staff kept ignoring me completely for about 20 min. Once someone finally asked what they could do for me and were made aware I was there to pick up an order they went in back and said they were working on it and it wasn't quite done yet. All this time there was a take out order sitting in front of a customer at the end of the bar which I figured belonged to him. Another 15-20 min went by and the staff member that initially finally helped me went in back again and said they were just bagging the two dinners and it would be out shortly. Immediately after this a female server (who initially ignored me) came flying over out of nowhere and grabbed the take out order from the end of the bar and brought it over for me. This was the order that was sitting there the whole at least half hour I was there. At this point I was pretty fed up and just paid and left. Needless to say the food was soggy and luke warm. Maybe it's better if you dine in but I won't be back...
