Firehouse Subs Sanford — Restaurant in Sanford

What a horrible experience! Placed an online order at 1:19, arrived to the store at 1:30 with 1 person ahead of me in line and 4 other people in the lobby waiting for their orders. While waiting, 3 other people came in after me. 2 of those people were for online orders and 1 placed an order. At 1:57 I was the last person left in the lobby still waiting on my order. And then when given my order it was incorrectly made. After asking the lady behind the counter to correctly make my order she became irritated and I no long had patience with them. I then ask her to read me back my order I placed online and she responded "you placed the order so your should know". I then called the corporate complaint line and gave them my information and what happened. Even after receiving my order back, I noticed items from my order were missing but my tolerance for this store was done. I informed the lady I will be anxiously waiting a return call from the owner or corporate and she yelled over the counter to me saying "well we know where you will end up". Former employee of this place and I truly wish I would have warned people about it before now. The old Indian couple that run the place are disgusting and absolutely disrespectful to staff AND CUSTOMERS, very minimal cleaning goes on behind the counter, the proper discounts for first responders is not applied at this location, food is kept beyond recommended expiration date, and the owner is disturbingly money-hungry and stingy with the toppings. Staff is regularly instructed to reuse ingredients that should have been thrown out such as bread, meat, toppings, etc. regardless of them ending up on the floor or in the trash can. In addition to that the owner, Atul, rarely washes his hands and uses gloves outside of health inspections. He’d also pick up food from the line with his bare hands and eat it throughout the day. Like I said, I regret not warning people sooner, and before leaving I wish I’d gotten evidence of these things and turned it over to the proper authorities. EAT HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Firehouse Subs is one of my favorite sandwich chains, but as much as I love their sandwiches, I'd rather take the time to talk about an employee at the Sanford location. Her name is Allison and she's awesome. The hubs and I frequent this location approximately once a month. The past couple of times we've been in, Allison has been behind the counter. She's a diligent worker with an amazing personality. I've never seen Allison without a smile on her face. She's always kind and her attitude is always positive. As the hubs and I ate lunch there yesterday, I noted how she treated everyone with respect. She knows her usuals by names, but it doesn't matter if she knows you or not, she treats you like a friend. In this day and age, excellent customer service is becoming a rare commodity, but not with Allison. She is an amazing example of what quality customer service looks like, and I am grateful. She's an asset to your business, and one that will keep us...
