King Chinese Buffet — Restaurant in Sanford

Do not waste your time or money going here!

This was the second time we had gone to this restaurant and we will not be back. Upon arriving, the waitress started to ask how old my youngest son was but then she stopped, looked at me in a weird way, and then just asked him instead. I can understand that somewhat because I know that people sometimes lie to get a cheaper price, but I still thought it was rude.

I had to ask the waitress for our drinks almost 15 minutes after we started eating. The food was typical for a Chinese restaurant...the kids were mostly happy because they had the fried sugar donuts and ice cream, but I felt like my dinner was a waste of money and absolutely not worth the calories I consumed. The white rice was dried out and crunchy and the food did not taste fresh at all. The variety was slightly less than typical but had most of the foods one would normally expect.

When I finally asked for my check, the waitress brought it to me and I thanked her. She stood over me, pointed to the total, and read it to me as if I couldn’t read it for myself. I thanked her again. She continued to lurk and finally asked if I wanted to pay now, as if she was afraid we were going to skip out without paying. Not sure what it was that made her skeptical; my kids were extremely well mannered and dressed decently after their swim class and I still had my dressy casual work clothes on. I guess that screamed “criminal” to her. I noticed that she didn’t exhibit the same behavior to anyone else around us so maybe she thought I looked too young to be able to afford a less then mediocre dinner? Regardless, I will absolutely go out of my way to go to any Chinese restaurant BESIDES this one ever again. The two star rating I gave was only because I was feeling gracious, despite the rude behavior...

After eating at this place 2 to 3 times a week for two years, spending about $450 a month, I can not so sadly say that I am never eating there again. My husband and I walked in at 3:27 and noticed that the clock on the wall was about 10 minutes fast and we wanted lunch and not dinner. I showed the woman the clock on my phone that clearly stated it was 3:27, which is completely legit hence the restaurants rule says dinner starts at 3:30. She rudely screamed at us that it is dinner time and pointed at the clock on the wall that was 10 minutes fast. We again showed her both our phones that both read 3:27. Again rudely she said no that it was dinner time, which it was not. Pissed off but hungry, my husband and I said whatever and started walking to the buffet. When my husband gets up to the buffet, there is NO dinner food on the buffet. So he tries to explain to her that we are not paying for dinner buffet when there is NO dinner food on the buffet PLUS we were there before the 3:30 cut off. This lady was still rude and loud, no customer service skills at all. All she said was "Dinner food start cooking." Well, call me crazy but who in there right mind would pay extra for dinner food that is not there on the buffet plus they arrived before the 3:30 cut off? This place is a lair and they even set their clocks fast to get extra money for food that is not there. Oh and let us not mention the utter lack of any kind of customer...

This is my first ever review, my family and I really enjoyed the food as well as service that we drove from ft Bragg to eat there, however today was by far the worse experience that I have had ever, I decided to eat lunch there today after church, when I arrived I hear the cashier's arguing with a customer about not paying, and I listening to the customers clearly trying to explain that only 3 of them ate and that the young lady didn't eat well they continue until the police was called and the cashier stated "well they black". I'm still waiting to be seated, and debating anyhow as I wait I hear the man continue to tell other customers about the encounter. After debating I decided to eat lunch here anyway. I am eating and my waitress had not checked on me not one time, and I would not of thought anything about it, until a party of about six men sat in front of me and were receiving great customer service I had realuzed that I had not received an refill until I was completely out mean while they were getting refills before they drinks were low. I accidentally left my check that I had to ask for at the table, as I stood in line my waitress ran to as if she thought I was trying to leave without paying. I never like to pull the racist card but it was little bit of it in the air today. I should of just went to the cheesecake...
