You ever eat somewhere and the experience from beginning to end was perfect? It's so great that you want to tell others but also don't want to potentially contribute to a massive increase in popularity that you aren't able to get a table? That's Yarborough's.
We were at the start of a road trip from Apex to Louisiana and decided to eat an early dinner so to make good distance before stopping for the night.
I did a Google search for 'burgers near me' and the reviews, pictures, and menu led us to choose Yarborough's in Sanford.
There is very convenient FREE parking directly across the street. We were a little bit in disbelief and checked to make sure there wasn't a pay station hidden somewhere.
We walked in and were immediately greeted by the strangely familiar vibes of a hamburger dive you probably have been to. It reminded me of an old burger spot in my home town in South Louisiana (UL Lafayette alumni - I'm referring to Campus Copies).
They have a huge case of homemade ice cream on your right and a register straight ahead to place your order.
We visited on a Friday around 6pm and there was a reasonable line to order and folks eating at a handful of tables. Not dead, but not overwhelmingly crowded.
Our ordering experience was easy and the helpful staff were so nice and created a welcoming environment. We were given a cute styrofoam cup with a number on it to help with bringing our order to our table.
We both ordered double bacon cheeseburger combos with onion rings, fully intending to save half for the road. That plan immediately went out the window after the first bite.
These burgers are phenomenal. They are obviously handmade and perfectly cooked. The onion rings. THE ONION RINGS. They are beautiful golden brown and the absolute perfect thickness.
I seriously considered breaking my lease and moving my family, but ultimately decided to stick it out and happily make the hour drive on a regular basis.
Highly, highly recommend. If you're driving anywhere near...
Read moreThey put out new people without being trained. The person with experience should be helping customers and having the new person should shadow. I came in to get ice cream. I asked how they came. He has no idea. I was like per scoop? He says yes. I wanted the smallest ones. Ok. We order 2 scoops in a cup and a cone He asks looks at it and says is this ok? Seriously!?! I have no idea. What does that even mean? There is no sign for scoops sizes and prices. Just shakes are stuff.
Then I go to cash out. He charges me $4.88 for a Half scoop. I mean half scoop. About 3 sample sizes if that. Then the cone 4.88 plus 1.something: the cone is 3x the size of our other 2.
There is no way he was trained correctly. I then ask the lady can you make sure this is right. Because I know he has no idea what he is doing.i had to reference or menu to check on. She doesn't listen and yells at me saying people are over scooping. Seriously!! My half scoop is over scooped. There is no way. That is robbery. She tried to add more and take it out of our hands vs listening to what I'm asking. I didn't want to get ripped off that's all. Which I was. She then changed it to a kiddie size. Which is all I wanted. But instead she made a huge scene about it.
I will never be back. 2 small spoon fulls you Will be charged $4.88. I get things are expensive but you go to fresh in Cary and 4.88 gets you a full scoop. Like the scoop folds over and fills in the empty space. As it should. Like round no a half moon. Train your staff on what you offer, and how to scoop an ice cream before letting them Rip out your local customers.
I wish I took a photo because it's laughable the size he was wanting to charge me for what I was getting. $18 later and i am so...
Read moreLast night we went to try out this Landmark food establishment based off several recommendations via Facebook and Google reviews. Ordered 2 hot dogs, cheeseburger, ham and cheese sandwich and a BBQ sandwich. Cost wise super inexpensive but past that, the experience was terrible. After 15-20 minutes waiting for our food, and seeing other tables eating before us, knowing they came in after us, I asked where is the food. I was told by a very nice young man that it would be just another 5-10-15 minutes. I said OK, but that is odd. 30 minutes went past, I asked again. I was told the cook is slow and been like this all day. I was asked to be patient while he cooked our food. 45 minutes past and found out the ticket never got to the cook and that I could wait longer they would put the order back in. Typically you would want to make right, right? Put us before another ticket or two, maybe even something to snack on while we wait. Nothing of the sort. i asked for a manager, and the manager is apparently off for the rest of the day. No organization, no leader, and no thought process to make us a satisfied customer. I kindly asked a young lady for our money back and off we went to The Dairy Bar. Sad to say but we will not be back to give you...
