The first time I stepped into Alta Baja Market back in 2019, I was absolutely floored by the experience. This isn’t just a store or a café – it’s a vibrant celebration of culture, community, and incredible flavors. From the moment you walk in, the cleanliness, warmth, and inviting atmosphere set the tone for something truly special.

As a self-proclaimed hot sauce aficionado, I was immediately impressed by their massive variety. Whether you're looking for something mild or daringly spicy, Alta Baja Market has you covered. Their curated selection shows they’re passionate about what they offer, and it’s clear they’re dedicated to quality.

On my most recent visit, I tried the Lady C's Eggchilada, and I’m still thinking about it! The flavors were beyond amazing—comforting yet exciting, with every bite leaving me wanting more. It's clear their menu is created with love and intention.

The staff? Absolutely top-notch. Friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely happy to share recommendations or just chat about the menu. It’s rare to find a place where every interaction feels like a conversation with an old friend.

Alta Baja Market is more than just a spot to grab a bite; it’s a community hub and a showcase of local creativity. If you’re in Santa Ana and you haven’t stopped by, you’re truly missing out. This place is a gem in every sense of the word, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Whether you’re a foodie, a lover of unique finds, or someone looking to support local businesses, Alta Baja Market is an absolute must-visit. It’s places like this that make...

Best place ever for vegan/organic inspired creative breakfasts, sandwiches, and salads. There are big meaty options too -- try the Todo! Every detail of every dish and condiment is special and has its own story.

Alta Baja serves a very, very thoughtful menu. I am a regular because first and foremost on their mind is to serve uniquely delectable meals at a fair price.

Alta Baja is also a market with an eclectic mix of cooking and food items. Spend any time looking and I guarantee you'll find something you really want to have or at least try. Everything is unique unto themselves, from spice to rice, beans, pasta, and soups. From incense candles, eco friendly soaps/cleaners to chocolate covered crickets, you will find something you want. Did I mention the wines?

The atmosphere is chill -- excellent for coffee and a laptop or just an email cleanse from your phone. You can have Alta Baja's brew of coffee or import a cup from the barrista next door at Portola Coffee.

After noon, switch it to a craft beer on tap or mix it up with a Michelada. There are plenty of seats near open air, floor to ceiling screens at the corner of Bush St and 4th Ave.

You'll see,... it really is a great...

Been visiting this place multiple times and that day was the first day I ever ate at this place. The store is always clean stocked up and had that aesthetic where you are at a tienda. We got the blue corn cakes, the la llorona, cafesito iced of course and their Jamaica Palmer. Food was really good. The jalapeño sauce with the sandwich was really good it basically shredded chicken reminded me of a bit of chicken tinga with the salad on the side of course. The blue corn cakes is really crispy and savory. Reminds me of a latke. It comes with a side of salsa and crema. The service is great. Your instantly greeted when you arrive and the staff is super friendly really nice folks. They also check up on you to make sure your enjoying your time and of course your food. For dessert, ordered the French pudding it’s like a French toast but better. Very buttery but melts into your palettes. It’s not too sweet but with the right amount if you get what I’m saying. If you are in the area do check them out they have plenty of seats and next time will come try out the rest...

Amazing hostess. A very friendly and warm welcome from the moment we walked in. We came to Alta Baja Market to have a brunch with our besties so the ratings may be benefiting from the company we shared. This is a market so you will find beans, spices, and a fabulous selection of Mexican wines (yes Mexico has wine regions ). The food is what I call a craft. I think the cook wants you to taste the subtle flavors and freshness. Not quite farm-to-table, but very close. She did mention flying to Mexico to pick up 300 lbs of Chiles. The chilaquiles are served in a bowl with tortillas so that you can taste the corn, the beans need a bit more salt. That seemed to be a common piece of feedback among the group. The French toast ordered by wifey was very tasty, the bread seemed to be a light egg brioche type. The corn pancakes are well-covered with oats and bananas. Overall we had a very satisfying meal.
