Mos2 - A Fallen Favorite
The Good Old Days Are Gone
For more than 30 years, Mos2 in Santa Ana has been a go-to spot for me, especially when visiting family. The once-vibrant atmosphere and generous portions were the highlights of my visits. But it pains me to say that those days seem to be long gone.
Portion Size: Where's The Chicken?
The most disappointing aspect has been the portions. On a recent visit, I ordered a medium chicken bowl, expecting the usual balance between rice and chicken. To my dismay, the bowl was overfilled with white rice, leaving very little room for the chicken. In fact, the chicken seemed like an afterthought, taking up less than a quarter of the bowl.
Expensive But Not Luxurious
Adding salt to the wound, the prices have steadily increased over the years. One would expect that with higher prices, the value or portion size would also go up. However, that hasn't been the case at Mos2. The current pricing does not provide any value to the customer, making each bite feel like a splurge rather than a satisfying meal.
Tips Don’t Tip The Scales
Despite giving them multiple chances and even leaving generous tips in the hope of a better experience, the situation remained unchanged. It's disheartening to see that customer loyalty and generosity aren't reciprocated in kind.
A Better Alternative: Home Cooking
Ironically, I found that I could recreate a similar, if not better, meal at home using Panda Express Teriyaki sauce. Not only does this save money, but it also allows me to control the portions and ingredients, resulting in a more satisfying meal.
Final Thoughts
Mos2 was once a cherished spot for family meals and quick bites. But with shrinking portions and rising prices, it's lost its luster. It's sad to say, but I can no longer recommend Mos2 for those seeking a value-packed, satisfying meal. I have decided that I will not be buying meals from Mos2 anymore; a difficult decision for a place that was once a favorite.

Read moreGreat place. Been coming here a long time. Place is cash only, which has led to a couple of Homer Simpson "D'oh" moments when I show up hungry and only have my credit card on me. Other than that, this place is really great. You definitely get all the bang for your buck here. I always get the beef and chicken combo plate. With a side order of Gyoza or Eggrolls. This order alone is usually enough for me and my girlfriend. For those of you that forget to withdraw cash, and are a member of a credit union. Santa Ana College right down the street has a School's First ATM in their administration building. That's where I go when I forget to withdraw cash. To avoid the withdraw fee, and for peace of mind because using random ATM's gives me anxiety. Forgot to mention that when the place is crowded, parking can be a little difficult here as well. Overall good experience everytime...
Read moreI wish I could rate this place negative stars ! I asked the guy with the Oakland A’s hat in charge of the register for a teriyaki pork combo and he asked me, pork? I’m yes and he asks again!!! That’s not customer service at all! That’s just wrong! So 6 people are behind me and they all receive my order before me! Im not taking it personal , but my order came out after them! And then I see the “cool” smile and snicker the register guy and they kept looking at me, there was no manager on site either , so when I opened my food container the meat was flavor less, and burnt! I didn’t even ask for a refund, I would rather burn my money too... stay away from here place is full of...
