This is a "locals spot" nice little local restaurant the service was quick and friendly, only street parking and being in Santa Barbara that can be a problem. I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs with home potatoes. The only complaint I have is that the serving portions were small especially for the price, the price for my breakfast was the same as the price at a much larger restaurant 😳 but the portions were significantly less 😳 and your served one piece of toast instead of two, the home potatoes were very few and chicken fried steak was small about half the size as in other restaurants. But the food was fresh and tasted good. šŸ˜‹ hopfully my experience was just a One-off and not their normal practice. I realize that the restaurant business is tuff these days (tuffer than when I owned my restaurant) but you're not going to gain or even retain your customer base but short changing your customers with smaller portions. I would go back and try something off their lunch menu, like I said the...

Waitress was nice and very experienced. Maybe owner? Fresh squeezed orange at 4.95 a glass. Coffee was fresh and very hot just the way my husband enjoys his coffee. Pancakes are cooked well and fluffy. I was very disappointed with the home fries though. After reading Rave reviews about them I wanted to try them. I think I make mine better at home to tell you the truth. First of all it’s a small portion. I have had more at other breakfast places. And they put no salt or anything to flavor them. Even the onion needed to be cooked a little more. It’s just the potatoes and a lot of diced onion and a little sprinkle of orange bell pepper and green. That’s it. No flavor. I think they should fry them with at least a tiny bit of salt. Anyway thought I would share with you. It was a very busy place and I can see many locals enjoy to go orders and eating there. I might try them again in The future and try...

Breakfast or brunch by any other name is the same. In this instance it is different. Classic pancakes, eggs benedict, Monte Cristo, breakfast favorites, are served with incredible service and smiles. Outdoor seating during the Corona virus is exceptional. On the other hand the food is basic. Hollandaise sauce is from powder. Breakfast sides are basic. Nothing wrong with a basic breakfast but I was expecting a little bit more when I went but because I was a tourist I did not read a review that said it was just very very basic. If you love basic please come here. The prices are basic also. There are a couple brunch breakfast places just down the road on mission Street that are exceptional. Do your homework and find the place that works best for you. Again the service and smiles were exceptional the food was...

We came to this place for breakfast while we were in town in Santa Barbara, and even though it was good food and the server was very nice and had a great personality, we were a little bit disappointed with the sanitary things we saw happening. We saw water glasses being prefilled ahead of time. They left the front door open, letting flies in. She cut our toast after dealing with money. The scoop that was used to fill the salt up was left in the container after use. There was hair in between the menu on 2 separate pages Very unsanitary items. Even though I had the burger patty mixed in with eggs. I didn't like seeing these things right before my eyes, while sitting at the counter as these things were ok for them. I won't be back. And unfortunately I do not recommend.

Pleasant Surprise! When my friend and I entered the restaurant we were greeted by the pretty hostess Amy who told us to take any seat. She promptly asked us if we coffee or something else. We both had coffee. It wasn't S$bucks but was OK (I had 3 cups) and exactly what I would expect at a breakfast restaurant. Now on to breakfast. My friend wasn't too hungry so he opted for fruit and fries. The fruit was fresh and the fries tasty. I had the pastrami omelette, onions and home fries. OMG best home fries ever. Seriously my friend and I were so happy with such a simple thing. The omelette was really good and I could cut the pastrami with a fork. 😁 Looking for a traditional breakfast cafe? Garrett's is it!

Ok folks. Don’t fall for all the glowing reviews. This place is terrible. We ordered French toast, a veggie omelette, hash brown and two cups of coffee: - the food was incredibly greasy - the coffee was just brown water - the vegetables in the omelette were barely cooked (in the same over oily way the rest of the food was) - the French toast tasted like old fryer oil (we couldn’t eat it at all) - potatoes were mostly oil - hash brown was decent - service was very good - friendly and attentive Adding insult to injury, this set us back $50. Total waste of money. Go somewhere else for breakfast in SB. Ignore the great ratings of this place unless super greasy spoons are your thing.
