2023 Korean Hair — Local services in Santa Clara

Went here for a hair cut: Great. So made a reservation for a digital perm, but searching along the other services, I decided to get a magic set perm on the of my appointment with Tiffany and explained what I wanted and she clearly understood. While I’m on the chair, the lady who cut my hair insisted (speaking in Korean; I don’t speak the language but can understand a few things) to Tiffany that I was going to get a digital perm. Sooo, I told her “NO DIGITAL PERM. I Am getting a magic SET perm.” AND THEN, they went back and forth talking in korean. The owner heard them and yelled “too loud” to them. The battle between Tiffany vs Ahjumma ended with Tiffany giving up so I’m stuck with Ahjumma who now does not have listening ears. Enter owner who now is helping Ahjumma because on top of this Ahjumma is working with another client. Another lady came, Jessica, who helped the owner dry my hair. She speaks and understood what was happening, I told her I have been telling the Ahjumma and the owner that I want a magic set perm and nobody seems to understand a simple sentence. So she started working on my hair then here’s comes Ahjumma again putting her hands on my hair. So I started raising the tone of my voice and asked who is really working on my hair because there were a total of 4 ladies who touched my hair. Mind you, with what I dealt with I really tried to be calm and not cause a seen. Long story short, I ended with a hair looking flat straight from the top to a super tight Ahjumma curls on the lower half of my hair. I looked like a poodle terrier crossbreed. I told Ahjumma this is not what I want but she wasn’t listening and kept saying “it’s nice.” As I was almost done, my sister who also got serviced went and paid both of our hair, and got a promo discount. We were closed to my car when Ahjumma called us again. Now the owner is revoking the discount saying discounts are not applied for digital perm. We explained that the discount applied was for my sister’s magic straight not the digital perm (BTW which I did not want on the first place). The owner seems to cant understand AGAIN so we just ended up paying just to get it over with. Sorry for the rant but if you don’t speak korean, BEWARE! I’m not going to say don’t go there because the other ladies are skillful with what they do. My sister’s hair looks great. My first experience with Jessica was amazing. She paid attention to every detail and kept checking on my needs/wants and did absolutely phenomenal that all my coworkers complimented after. That was the only reason I came back again even though I had to drive over an hour. But I guess my luck was only until then.

My second visit today...was terrible. I got a different stylist (didn't ask her name) and she had no questions, told me she would tidy up just a little bit on the side, then she started cutting prob at least two inches out all around. When I said it's getting too short, she was like "yes, short!" then continued cutting (like wth lol). And the final look...I would rather get a $30 crewcut or do a buzz at home. Well, hairs will grow back, I can wear a hat for a couple months. The worse part was that she started rushing me to take another customer that just walked in. I booked to reserve my spot a week ago, I still paid the new price (the price went up by $7 this week), and almost got kicked out. It wasn't really a good feeling. I don't think I will come back again.

ln late July, I visited the 2023 Korean hair salon in Santa Clara, and it was a fantastic experience. Nestled conveniently in a shopping center with ample parking, the salon is easy to find and access. Though the prices are a bit higher than I would normally prefer, the quality of service makes it well worth it and I am a big believer in you get what you pay for.

Having struggled to find a good stylist since my longtime hairdresser closed her shop, I was thrilled to discover this salon. My hair can be thick and challenging to style, but the team here nailed the perfect cut and texture. The hair washing station with its massage chairs was a luxurious touch that made the experience even better.

The staff was incredibly kind, friendly, and knowledgeable. Despite only needing a simple haircut, they fit me into their schedule promptly and efficiently. I highly recommend this salon for anyone looking for a high-quality wash, cut, and blowout. I’ll definitely...
