First and foremost: Lori is so sweet and easy to work with. I know that's not why anybody reads a Yelp review, but in a world where there are so many great businesses, sometimes the stand out thing is the amazing person running it. So, thank you Lori for being great!
We reached out because we were hosting a large, academic event in Union City. Thousands of hungry high school kids who needed to eat for two days and Lori came to the rescue. Not only is she an absolute pleasure to work with as we were planning the event, but she was just a lovely person to say hi to throughout the weekend (between her feeding swarms of hungry people, that is!).
Rocko's was pretty consistently busy throughout the weekend and for good reason! Not only do they have a ton of great options, but just the ice cream itself is extremely good! Even vegans or those with milk allergies have options (in this case, a delicious java chip that you would NEVER KNOW was dairy free if you weren't told!). You get to pick your ice cream, your toppings, what it is dipped in, etc. It's amazing and everything I tried was delicious. All weekend, I heard folks commenting on how absolutely amazing the ice cream truck was!
So, if you're looking for a delicious snack: check out Rocko's. If you're looking to cater an event, you seriously can't go wrong working with Lori. She's an absolute pro, a great person, and makes amazing desserts. We will absolutely be asking them back...
ย ย ย Read moreSo my family and I made a trip to this place (took us 1.5hrs to get there) after watching a promo on my social media feed only to learn that apparently they don't do custom tacos during certain hours of the day ๐คจ and we happened to be there during those hrs. Seriously? There was literally nobody there and 2 employees, I let the girl know we drove there from far to see what the hype was all about and she was like "Yeah... sorry, You can grab something from the freezer or choose from our preselected menu. On that note, Icecream was basic and I can't even say I paid for the experience. Next time I'll save myself the 3hr rt and get myself a choco taco from my local grocer.
UPDATE: Aparently this ice cream taco shop wants to deny my experience ever happened, or that they were advertising to be open when we visited. They do in fact share a wall with another business and they close for a couple hrs sometime in the middle of the afternoon (atleast that was the case back in May 2023) however, we did enter the establishment during business hrs for which I posted the image. I mostly had tried to forget that ever happened, but the fact that I keep getting bombarded with social media advertising on my feed, I had to say something, hence the date on my post. Moral of the story, don't...
ย ย ย Read moreI have seen this place on wheels as an ice cream taco truck and was delighted to see that they have a brick and mortar store now. I happened upon it when I was dog walking and since it had a blue dog painted on the front of the building, I surmised it was. ๐ I found out that they actually provide their chipped waffle pieces for the dogs to snack on instead of tossing them - very cool. They also sell a frozen yogurt peanut butter bon bon for $1 as a dog treat ๐ I actually bought one to try myself and it was not bad. I can see why dogs like it. It's actually a perfect frozen treat for a dog with double layered fur who loves snow like the malamute I decided to treat.
There are a lot of artisanal ice cream flavors like honey lavender, olive oil with cocoa nibs, and the like. They also had watermelon ice cream which was exciting and one of my go-tos. It's always so much better than watermelon sorbet which tastes just like ... well, a watermelon.
They had an unclear menu. For example, you can actually do two flavors for the regular taco at 50 cents extra, price not specified. I ended up getting The King after trying a couple flavors. It has banana creme ice cream (another one of my fav flavors), peanut butter dip, and dried honeycomb....
